Do you guys just set the thermostat for winter and leave it there 24/7? Overnight?

I am treating myself to heat. Just wondering do you leave the heat on the thermostat over night?

Myne is on a toasty 22 all year round upstairs. It does not cost much, my gas and electic bills are £69 a month for a 2 bed house. I dont think I have ever turned the heating off before, you can just leave it on all year round.

yes the heat is on all the time, but my sister has it set really low because she suffers from hot flashes, I on the other hand was freezing all the time. So I bought an electric throw blankey, now we’re both happy. She has a freezing house and I’m warm and snuggly. Anyway it’s good you treat yourself to heat, get under your electric throw too and really warm up

We don’t usually turn ours on until after Jan.
Guess we’re just used to it not working- kinda like the air conditioner.
It’s usually around 45-50 degrees F in here, best to learn how to dress like a polar bear.

Thank gawd for fuzy blankets!

I do. We have different units in each room, so I have my bedroom set lower because I’m only in there when I’m sleeping and can use blankets, they’re a bit finicky and hard to get to the right spot, so once I find it I don’t touch it.

I keep the living room at 65°/18° all day. My bedroom is about 61°/16° most of the time, but sometimes I’ll turn it down a bit because I think the guy above us must keep his room pretty warm.

I turned mine off last night to save on the heat bill. When I woke up this morning it was freezing in my house so I turned it on.

Mine is set to go on for certain periods of the day . Don’t ask me what those are as I can’t remember exactly .

I wear a hoodie all winter, and keep the heater on low, cost to much to have it warm in here, we have a tax on heating fuel here, sucks, we live in the cold white north

I turned my heat off last night when I went to bed and just bundled up. It was super cold this morning so I turned the heat on 73/22.7 but it’s only heating my bedroom

We got snow in October, temps were colder than usual all that month so heat is 72F will be till probably May or the first day over 70F which will be very late May or June. WI weather is goofy. My mom in the mountains of SD turned her heat on Sept 1st, they got snow early Sept, 1 foot the first snowfall. So her heat is on Sept till about mid June when the snow finally stops. I don,t miss it out there.

i only put it on if i am very cold, i usually turn it down while i’m out unless it is so cold the pipes will freeze but that never happens, atm i came home and put it on but my feet are still cold, i’m under a cover too

I have no gas in my flat, so I use electric heaters which are expensive to run.

I have the lounge on 4am to 6am and then 6pm to 9pm.

Bedroom 4am to 6am and then 7pm to 10pm.

I honestly don’t know how much that will cost this year, as I had to replace my heaters after the old ones broke.

I am paying a higher amount for electricity throughout the year at the moment, so I hope I won’t get any nasty surprises.

I don’t mess with the thermostat now but during the apartment years it varied. i was on the 2nd floor and at first my neighbors below turned there’s way up. So I had no problems for 2-3 years. Then they were replaced with this guy who never turned on his thermostat because he was obsessed with his budgeting. So at first I turned it to 60 then 65 and 67 after freezing and getting colds. I was considering going even higher before I moved. By the way I suspect my downstairs neighbor froze to death during a unusually long ice and snow storm. His replacement didn’t come until Spring and I was gone by the time it turned cold again.

I have a two fan system in my bedroom window. I also have a temperature sensor right next to me in my bed. It turns on the fans if the temperature exceeds my settings. This way, I keep on getting fresh air pumped into my bedroom throughout the night. This setting is below the daily temp that satisfies me.

It gives me a good nights sleep.

Mines on 20c during the day and 18c at night. Mind you the gas/elec bill always seems to be about £350 a quarter. But im on the seafront so theres always a cold bloody wind blowing at the flat in winter.

Nothing worse getting out the bed and freezing your arse off when you put the kettle on and get dressed in the morning.

I put mine on 62. If it gets too cold i turn it up to 65.
