I feel like before I was a hippie, which I decided I wanted to be a hippie, when I was 19 I was way better good looking.
Now I’m all scraggily and unkempt and not great teeth either and I look more bum’ish.
I came to this revelation filming myself 20 minutes ago…hold on will post video at the end of the post.
But on the contrary, some people DO find hippies attractive. Some people think people with that mentality are waste of space, but others are highly attracted to it. Two straight meetings a hippie girl has approached me after the meeting and started talking to me for a while. Your non-hippie probably wont be able to relate to me but I do have it going for me that hippies like other hippies. I really do think I am a hippie. I fit right in at the grateful dead concert last night.
So preference/taste is a matter of opinion really, which is probably just a preface for my insecurities telling me im ugly…but at least there are some people who find me attractive. Very Like minded people like me.
If you don’t wanna listen to me I highly suggest listening to this very-non-hippie song
Peace flower power yall ….and another question??? Do you take pride in any labels/things you’ve conformed to??? Like ive conformed to the hippie style even though its supposed to be non-comformist I admit everyone I am very much a comformist as well even if my identity is somewhat rebellious.
Yes I love hippies! I am a hippie at heart myself. Love the long hair and beard look on guys I dress in colourful long skirts and tops and kaftans. And I’m vegetarian too lol!
We have very few hippies in my town. They sit in a park or go to certain few bars. I think they are cool. They have this gang friendship. I have hanged around with them. I felt welcomed and like at home with them. Warm people.
I was always called, “that hippie chick” because of my super abundant, very long, wavy hair and no makeup. I didn’t mind that label. Although I was too young to be a real hippie. I was only nine years old during the Woodstock concert. Even today I never wear makeup and I don’t shave my legs. Luckily I have very little hair on my legs so it is not noticeable. My ex husband, who was seven years older than me, was the real hippie. And yes, I found him attractive.
I think hippies are attractive to other hippies. Sometimes they have an appeal to me, but they also do things that put me off. They can be so vehement in the politics. It’s been called “the ostentatious conscience” and “virtue signaling”. I wouldn’t mind it so much, but I feel like their views are sometimes wrong, and they have caused enormous damage.
I let my hair grow long starting when I was in fourth grade! It stayed long right into high school and I got called hippie occasionally but it was meant to be more of an insult. I guess I fed into it for doing things like wearing a gold peace sign on a chain around my neck when i was in sixth grade. I also would wear a headband to keep my hair out of my eyes when I played sports. (A hippie playing sports? Is that an oxymoron?)
My parents were in their there forties in 1970 but some of our family friends my parents age were into making pottery, and other kind of stuff you might associate with hippies and I learned much, much later after I got sick that some of our family friends my parents age were smoking pot and my dad would to. Not heavily by any means though.
In fact when I was doing yard work at one of my parents close friends the woman had to leave me alone at her house pulling weeds because she had to go somewhere but before she left she told me if I get hungry, just look through the cupboards and have whatever I found. So being somewhat of a nosy, sneaky little bas*ard I went through a couple of drawers and stumbled onto almost a whole ounce of weed. I was surprised for sure but she said I could have whatever I found so I rolled 4 joints and then put the weed back where I found it and I went outside and smoked the joints by myself and then went back to digging out bushes.
I have been called a old hippie, by some people. I was in Costco one day and a stranger came up to me and said. “It nice to see a old hippie” I not sure about the old part or the hippie part. I dress nice when I go out. It must be the hair.
Yes I find hippies attractive. At least the female ones.
Only the attractive ones. But I don’t want to be crass or insulting but part of the hippie thing in the sixties was about “free love”. In the 1950’s people were uptight and conforming and repressed about sex… Than the hippie movement came along with experimenting with drugs and sex was a big part of being as hippie. They advocated with sleeping with whoever you felt like, whenever you felt like it. Sex was not supposed to be a big deal. And sex and drugs go together.
So I liked that aspect of it. I was born in 1961 so I was just a little kid in the sixties but boy, when I reached high school in the mid-seventies we had some beautiful, sexy stoner chicks at our school. In the sixties they would have been hippies… Of course it didn’t do me any good because they just usually fooled around with only the stoner guys. Hell, the stoner chicks at my school would have slept with our 66 year old school nurse before they would ever sleep with me.
I had long hair for years. I did get the Jesus thing quite a lot. I listened to punk music and hung out with eclectic people. I went psychotic and since then had med/short hair.
Labels can be deceptive. We are all different in how we react to life. You put a label on someone your missing the point. Some hippies can be punks too! I know I was if you talked to me!
