Do you ever forget things you've said / done

While not on medication? I’ve got a book with all of these things I’ve written when I’ve skipped my meds but I have no recollection of writing them. Is it normal to just ‘forget’ an episode or psychotic break? Has it ever happened to anyone, or maybe the other way around?

I have almost no recollection on what happened while I was psychotic. Sometimes people tell me things I said or did and I just don’t remember it happening. It’s really stressful.

I think the strangest thing about it is that there might some things that you will never remember happened, that could impact relationships etc. I’m kind of glad to know it’s possibly normal, but sad to know it has stressed you out. :frowning:

I wish I could get ECT so I could forget some of the things I’ve done when psychotic.

What is ECT??

Yes I have memory problems and I don’t remember a lot of what I say and do while psychotic.

yeah i forgot a lot…!!!

It is electroconvulsive therapy. I think it is just called “electroshock” in most circles. What they do is place electrodes on your temples and pass an electric current through your brain, causing a convulsion. It had a very bad reputation for a while. It was really hard on the people who were subjected to it. But they have learned ways to administer this treatment in ways that aren’t nearly as strenuous as it used to be. I’ve seen ECT do a lot of good. I think that these days it is used to treat patients who are severely depressed. I tried to get them to give me ECT at this one hospital, but they wouldn’t do it.

Oh okay. It sounds very interesting! Most new treatments are controversial. I’m sorry you can’t access it.

ECT is not new, destroyed the lives of too many good people.

Oh! I’ve really never even heard of it. May be age or ignorance.
