I used to collect stones but I got impatient with that collection so I threw them out.
I had this massive crystalline rock I found in Brazil. It is so beautiful but it was too heavy to carry around every time I move home. I wish I still had it.
I used to collect movies on DVD, music on CD, science fiction novels in paperback/hardcover, and vintage cameras. I’m now done to just vintage film cameras and I have pared down the collection some. I’ve spent the last two years having to clean out the homes of older relatives (the last month again, actually), and I have no desire to inflict this misery on my daughter. If I’m not using something, I don’t need it.
I have a coin collection I’ve had since age 5. I like old American coins and foreign coins. I have a few pennies from the 19th century that are bigger than our quarters are today. Every now and then someone will pass a coin off in a store and I get it in return in my change, south American coins, middle eastern, Canadian. I’ll take a photo some day. My coin collection is sentimental it couldn’t sell for more than $200 total, though I have some Roman coins that reminds me of my father who gave them to me.
Vinyl and Dvd. But I have put a roof on how much I collect like a fixed space for it. If I’m getting more than I have space for I have to give or sell some of the other stuff. A good way to make sure the collecting dosen’t spiral out of control.
I collect old and new computers. I’m a programmer so I like pushing old hardware to it’s limits to see what it can do. Also I like old operating systems.
