Do you believe that you must be on your antipsychotics for the rest of your life

Maybe, maybe not I don’t know what the future holds

I’ve been on them long enough and missed enough doses to know I need them permenantly.

yep, for life…love my meds so it’s not a problem.

I dont plan on taking em in old age when the risks of TD and death are higher. I’ll prob stop around 65 if not sooner

Sure. I’ve been on them four decades, what’s another few years?

I think I will always need them to curb fearful delusional flashbacks. I do hope I can do without maintainance meds, that would be great. Not sure.

I think I can come off them.

When I tried before to come off them, all I would think about would be my first ever episode and my experiences around that. My delusions based around these experiences would come back.

Then I joined this site and it has helped massively in that it keeps me grounded and makes me accept I have an illness. I think this mindset is needed in order for the chance to come off.

I’m inspired by those who have come off, and live with positive symptoms still. I think when we’re stable and well we should have the choice whether we want to live with symptoms or live with the side effects of meds.

I had my depot this morning. My care coordinator, who usually does my depot, said that although I’m doing well things could get worse if I stopped having the depot. She agreed that the more dramatic ,positive, symptoms burnt out as you get older. With the elderly the biggest cause of psychosis is a urinary tract infection, according to her.

I am content with my meds so no need to discontinue it.
