I believe that I took a cognitive hit early on in sz but I have seen no evidence of decline in the three years of being stable. What’s your view?

- No
- I don’t know/unsure

I’m actually doing better now than in 2008. I think it’s all about getting on the right meds.
I’m not sure whether to pick “No” or “unsure”…I have some doubts, but like I said, I have seen no evidence of it myself. It may be that it is for some people and not for others.
Personally I haven’t found it cognitively degenerative, and I am doing better than ever since switching to Lurasidone.
But for some people I think it can be a major problem.
It can render you incompacitated, but theres always hope for improvement too.
No. The majority of people with SZ who I have seen keep positive attitudes and work toward recovery have all improved over time. It’s the negative ones who won’t try anything new or do anything different that I’ve seen decline fastest and hardest.
I just have to believe that it’s not.
Since we can’t even figure out what schizophrenia really is or what causes it it’s hard to say that it specifically is neurodegenerative. I don’t know if I know enough to even have a real opinion on this.
I agree with everyone who has posted thus far.
I finally decided on “No” but it was a hard choice between no and unsure.
I have gotten new ways of doing things in my head like associating unconnected things, and thinking on second plane in parallel or in the background even if I don’t want to do it. I can’t be on point as much. I would call that degenerative.
However when I think back to when I was a kid I always had problems or challenges. I am limited. For example I would lose the thread in what I was saying or someone else was saying or I would have difficulty to channel myself. edit: so maybe its no degeneration
