That’s great! I got my Shih Tzu when he was five. His owner surrendered him and admitted to beating him. But after he got some training and love, he’s now a great dog. I love him sooo much!

We’ll just be aware that dogs take 6 months to settle in and training a service dog takes at least a year, usually two, and they are recommended to be retired by the age of 10-12 depending on the breed. My dog is 3 and I feel this is pretty late to start training

@Wave I completely understand where you are coming from. We were dog-less for at least 18 months before we got Ghost. The only reason we were able to have him is because hubby only works a couple of weeks a month and devoted his off time to Ghost. If I can get help, I do. If there is no help, I find that I do what needs to be done. Even kneeling on the floor to clean out a crate. The activity doesn’t bother me, but boy do my knees and back, not to mention getting out of bed! My activity for today for Smooch is a car ride to Starbucks to get a puppicino. I’m trying to do something positive every time we go out.
Sorry I’m sharing random things, @Twialine. Service dogs in the US have a lot of issues (or rather, their owners do), and I have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to it, if you can’t tell. I’m very happy for you, though!
@Moon When I got Mojo, she already had basic training (house, leash, crate, crowds/socializing), so I just added on what I wanted. She was four, trained by five, and went out with me for about 5 years.

Sometimes when walking alone i stare blank into distance. I dont feel like im there. Ive visited many stores through time and i see people with service dogs. They also stare into the distance. They are just standing there…weird
