and do they seem to relate to ur closeness to psychosis. i had a dream today where my memory was completely ruined. i was confused in the dream. i had 4 small spots on my face so i picked at one and a black glob came out which turned out to be spiders. they were fast. so i had spiders living in my face. and i was running around a motel i was living in panicked. but anything i wanted to do i couldnt do cause i kept forgetting what i was doing. i forgot how to even use a computer. then i went out into the hall and a naked man was laying on the floor jacking off loudly…it was a really weird dream…im not even telling all of it. but it was more like a nightmare.
I sometimes hear voices in my sleep and i usually have strange vivid dreams
one time around the time of psychosis i had a dream all night of a looped car insurance commercial
I have future like dreams… Where society is all run down, AI is controlling everyone, there is an even bigger divide between rich and poor and there are automated security machines that kill intruders, people eat really disgusting things they claim is food ( because nothing else is available) and pretty much everyone has a hidden agenda. They’re really horrible realistic dreams and sometimes I think they’re prophetic… Sometimes they are so disgusting that I wake up gagging… ![]()
My dreams aren’t really too nightmarish I generally sleep ok- just that my schizophrenia has created a on again and off again in and out of sleep schedule.
Sounds more like a nightmare. I almost never have nightmares but instead my dreams are strange and vivid and sometimes lucid.
Nightmares are more fear based.
yeah it was def a nightmare but what i mean by “psychotic like” is it felt like psychosis in the dream.
Well dreaming in a sense is psychotic? Psychosis is kind of a waking dream. My psychosis wasnt really nightmarish more bordered on grandiose, magical and extreme.
I have had a psychotic dream!
This is what i think too. People morph in front of my eyes and i believe in strange things like i do in dreams.
Im sure theres some sort of base to it. Psychosis is a different state of consciousness and dreaming is a different state of consciousness.
People with sleep disorders like narcolepsy it is very common to have hallucinations.
I don’t. My dreams are very trivial. I haven’t bought into the everybody dreams every night theory either. You can tell me however many times you want that you have reason to believe that I am dreaming every night but since you are really just making a guess because brain activity can’t prove conscious experience it’s basically a claim you have to take on faith.
Maybe my brain dreams each night, maybe it doesn’t and the process that causes you to dream doesn’t need to cause dreams, either way it’s very rare for me to dream and I will not relay my experience saying I don’t remember my dreams because it implies that I forgot them, which I did not, I never knew them whether they happened or not. I am aware before I wake up and even then it’s all just a black timeless void with no memory as my consciousness gets slowly connected back to my experience, there isn’t anything to remember. I don’t think consciousness is a requirement for dreaming and if I am not always conscious in my dreams, I never dreamed them, my brain did.
With that out of the way, no I’ve never had psychotic dreams. My dreams are either trivial or heroic in some way but I am very much aware of what’s going on, more so than normal people. Dreams can concentrate or dilate time but I perceive the alteration and relate with the underlying speed which makes my dreams always very short from my perspective even when they span relatively longer periods of time.
This morning woke up because dream was about young girl like 4 years old vomiting in a playground nonstop. Then dreadlocks starting coming out of her mouth and i had enough woke up and thought that was turning into a nightmare
I’m so sorry. It sounds horrible
