Yes I believe they do. I think dopamine might play a role in motivation.
But would need to read journals to confirm.

You can have secondary negative symptoms like lack of motivation from meds. You can also have primary negative symptoms like lack of motivation without meds.

Negative symptoms were reported way before meds so there’s that.
Still. Meds seem to do better for most with positives so then the negs become more prevalent.
There’s no real science behind it because we just don’t totally understand the interactions of meds but we are in the ballpark so to speak.

I had no motivation when I first got sick ten years ago. I think some meds made it worse like maybe Quetiapine. I’m doing better now for some reason.

They haven’t figured this out. Some associate negs with meds, mine feels like it’s just part of my SZ.
