Do Jehova Witnesses dress up in black?

Two people rang my doorbell earlier, one guy and one girl, they were dressed up formally and wore black clothing. They also wore backpacks.
They announced that they were from a local church and invited me to a dinner there.

I quickly said no thanks and slammed the door shut.

I’m wondering if they were Jehovas or if they were members of some cult?

They were parked by my house and pulled up on my driveway to turn around.

A third girl joined them.

They made me feel paranoid

À couple of days ago some people approached me at the station to convert me. I continued walking…

And yes, usually they are nicely dressed.

Round here in the uk, its the Mormons that are dressed in black.

I entertained them years ago and the JW’s , but i dont think they were impressed with my drinking and smoking.

I mean - i sang in a church and a cathedral for many years since 10 years of age, but not once were we required to shove the religion down other people’s throats like those organisations do.

The male jehova witnesses in my neighborhood always wear black suits. The women sometimes wear black but they also wear colors

From a former Mormon. Elders are 2 Guys or 2 girls. Normally never mixed (except rarely some older couples).

Mostly likely missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints a.k.a. Momons. They would have likely had small black plastic name plates on their shirts or jacket saying Elder Hairspray and Elder Styling Gel or somesuch. The third person may have been a female missionary or a local church member who volunteered to drive them around.

Annoying, but pretty harmless.

Cheers from a fellow excom.

Yeah I don’t think that they were dressed exclusively in black, there were some colors but they were dressed up nicely

Yeah there is a couple of blokes in the town that are mormons, with their signs out.

I dont agree with them, but ruddy hats off to you for standing there for hours, in something you believe in. In fact, i would place a bet the local smack heads have already tried to tap them for money lol

Yeah you are right @shutterbug
The third girl was driving

Depending on what region they’re in, missionaries may have access to a vehicle (usually shared with other missionairies), but they are also on a tight budget (Mormons are frugal). Local church members often provide chauffeur services to keep missionaries from going over their fuel allowance, and also to provide some companionship. Homesickness is a real issue for them.

I’ve found in the past that it’s best not to engage with proselytizing people when they visit my house cuz if you do… it’s like herpes, they keep coming back!
