Do I need more medication if I relapse?

Anyone know if I am doing good (psychosis wise/voices/delusions) on 10 mg Abilify and my pdoc decides to reduce my dose to 5 mg because of some side effects and I go into psychosis again will I need a higher dose of the same medication or can you usually prescribe the same dose (10 mg) without any problems?

Just trying to get you guys opinions but I will be asking my pdoc.

Good luck

I’ve had to up my dose a couple of times. Started on 5 mg Abilify, it wasn’t enough. Increased to 15 mg. Two years later I’m on 25 mg. But you never know how you react to Abilify. It could be different.

It is always a good idea to start Abilify as low as possible- My pdoc is going to start me off at 5 mg - I may take 3 mg just in case. This is to minimize or avoid the akathisia.
The second week I am supposed to go to 10 mg, I will be taking 5 mg instead.
Week 3 I will go to 10 mg of Abilify as prescribed.
I am not going to rush through the doses -
Last time I was on Abilify, my old pdoc started me on 15 mg - a bit too high to start for me - got a lot of akathisia for a couple of days because of this

I think both are possible. It’s been awhile since I read anything about this so I’m not sure. With my son he may have to be on higher doses to start, after psychosis, however he can usually titrate down to lower doses to maintain.

I took 400mg amisulpride and was doing fine, but then in july i had a relapse so in Sept my pdoc upped it to 600mg. I did better on it, and later my pdoc said i can bring it back down to 400mg if i wanted to. I said no, keep it 600mg, but then i pushed it down to 400mg myself - and relapsed and landed up going to hospital. I’'m back on 600mg now.
