Right now I live with my parents. I was thinking of going into an assisted living when my parents die but I would need someone to give me my medicine and take me to appointments. So I was thinking of getting a guardian (my half sister) but they live out of state and would not be able to take me to my appointments. So is an assisted living the best option or should I get a guardian that lives in state and that way they could take me to my appointments while being in an assisted living?
@Jake lives in a group home, maybe he can tell you about getting to appointments etc when he comes online.
i live with my mom and i am like you thinking of going in to assisted living when i became old. in your case i think assisted living would be better as in there you will get all the help and care you need and you can rely on them. your half sister could be busy in her own life or maybe get sick.
But what if the assisted living closes down?
If they closed they would place you with a different home. They wouldnt just throw their residence on the street.
Thinking about that makes me panic. I am not sure how to cope with what happends with my life right now and I live with my parents over 70 yrs old.
It will be very hard to live longer. I must say I wished I was already gone than this situation
