Do antipsychotics cause you to start thinking rationally?

Do you know? I think my thinking started to change after a med increase

Do they change your thinking @anon9798425? @Ninjastar?

I felt like I could think clearer when I was on Invega.

Yes, they made me think clearer.

Hm. I think it is more like they make me think LESS. The speed of my thoughts slows done, im making less associations, im seeing less patterns, the urgency of everything gets less.

Sounds like glorification of psychotic thoughts.

I’m very pleased with what Geodon has done to my mind. I’m feeling much clearer. The only thing I don’t like about Geodon is the way it physically weakens me. Oh well, you can’t have everything.

Then something went wrong in the communication between you and me, because in no way am i glorifying psychotic thoughts.

I just state in a factual way what it does to me. There was no value judgement attached to the things i stated.

Nowhere did i say it is a good thing if my mind is racing and explodes with (weird) thoughts, patterns and associations. Or a bad thing if i have less of that. I meant it as a neutral statement: I think less. Which has positive and negative sides.

Yes, sometimes you need to accept side effects. Happy it helped you.

Yes, now that I am on Zyprexa, I no longer think I am being watched and followed. I can now leave the house on my own without my husband accompanying me. My delusions are gone.

AP’s clear (empty) my head.
This could be a good thing.

Thanks for clarifying that how your post read to me was not what you meant.

They calm my thoughts a bit, but I am currently struggling to get better on a good, ‘‘normal’’ thinking with more intelligent thoughts… I am afraid, that theres no med, who will make me more intelligent, so I just try to retrain my brain with some small activities… The intellectual degradation is a big part in my illness and I was irrational too, but I guess ill put time to recover on this, maybe years… No ap wont make us more intelligent I guess… But the aps are a good help to fight for this, yeap, we need them  .

I think with antipsychotics our perception of reality is more rational. So we can think in a more rational way.
