I don’t actually feel depressed. Just flat.
For those of you on anti depressants did taking them make any difference to your emotions?

I’d like to know that too, because my pdoc just prescribed me one last week and I don’t know if I should take it. I feel flat as well although get mood swings too.
I would say on my current medicine, Cymbalta 120mg, I do feel some emotion. But I don’t feel overwhelmed by emotion like I did when I was younger so it’s pretty nice.
Not that it helps you much, but Geodon gave me back my emotions, when combined with therapy. After like 3 months, I felt my emotions turn back on all at once. It was like flipping a switch, and I had been without them for so long that I was incredibly overwhelmed by them for a few hours.
Actually, I don’t know whether it was the geodon or the therapy. I started both at the same time.
I’m not flat, I’m depressed now.
No, they blunted my emotions, though not as much as AP.
It didn’t for me but I just took Wellbutrin bcz my pdr said it may be good for negative symptoms. He doesn’t believe that I am depressed, just that I have negative symptoms.
No, I just have too much emotion.
No. I have no emotions.
I’m emotionally and spiritual flat. I contribute it to my pych meds.
@everhopeful Wellbutrin didn’t help me but it might help you. Did your pdr suggest it? Mine said it might help negative symptoms. For me the only meds that help with negative symptoms are partial dopamine antagonists/agonists, Vraylar, Rexulti and Abilify. We all have different genetics so what works for me might not work for you. You should try Wellbutrin.
I take Zoloft and lexapro together. I know is not adviced but those combination makes me hyper emotional and hypersexual. I feel strong connection to my loved ones whit this medicine
I actually tried wellbutrin to quit smoking once and it gave me suicidal ideation so I stopped it. This was a few years before I was diagnosed.
Ah ok then keep asking your pdr about something for negative symptoms. He might try new meds.
Serotonin drugs worsens cognition and have numerous other side effects. If your goal is just to get some emotions then yes it can help. Also watch out for bad emotions too like anger, rage etc as it can come if have some underlying mood disorder like sza, bipolar etc.
