Do all generic meds work the same…?

I swear to goodness. My current/usual manufacturer of generic zyprexa works better than the last one I just had.

I’m so glad I got my usual one back again!! I feel so much better already and it’s only been 1 or 2 weeks back on it.

Can generic meds really vary in quality that much? Has this ever happened to you?

I’ve been on zyprexa’s little brother for 20 years. Only the dosage amount can affect the drug’s efficacy. Glad you are feeling good, but it’s likely other factors that are contributing to your good mood.

Yeah, I’m feeling pretty good I’d say.

See I had the following paranoia: I wonder if the pharmacy messed around with my last 90 day supply of zyprexa. Like altered them to lower the amount of actual zyprexa in the pills so I didn’t get my full dose.

But I’m trying my best to step back and realize this is a delusion about the pharmacy. It’s not easy. But I’m trying.

ive never noticed a difference. and i been on them since 1998. so i took the originals and generics over the years. never really noticed much.

I think by medical definition they have to be exactly the same.

Maybe I’m wrong…

Could be that it’s like water… All h2o but you can notice a difference between distilled, tap, spring water and so on…

Or maybe they’re exactly the same… Not sure

I can completely relate! My hydroxyzine hits different with a certain brand.

I feel a significant difference taking original zyprexa, than the generic I was taking before.

I imagine this can happen between different generics as well.

It’s not like when the monopoly of the original medication ends, the manufacturer hands over the recipe to those who want to make generics. There can be different production methods of creating the active substance which gives variations, and also there can be different supporting ingredients.

I think in the uk the rule is generics have to be within 10% plus or minus when the levels are tested in the patients blood stream

That’s what my pdoc told me as well that there can be slight differences.

That’s why I get the ‘Invega’ brand etc.
