Dismantling ideas of reference

For the record, I’m pretty religious, and used to think that ideas of reference are “messages from on high” intended to “put you on The Path”, but that “path” is totally self-made and reflective of what you envision your “best” or “worst” self to be, which, for a schizophrenic, is usually unreasonably grandiose and silly.

If you spend your time waiting for “The Universe” to guide you, you’re going to get very, very, lost, since it is a terribly chaotic and confusing place.

You control your moral compass, set it on a path, and go forth, regardless of what criticism may come your way! You are the master of your destiny, and the Universe knows it. Take life’s direction in your own hands!

Don’t just react to what life throws you, be the action others react to. You are the main attraction in the play of life!

Just be reasonable with what you want, don’t make the thing completely out of your range, which would only frustrate you and waste time.

Kick ideas of reference in the ass, don’t let them make you crazier.

Don’t rely on luck for your livelihood, it is a losing proposition. House always wins in the end!

Wishing you some good self-made success.

Just a refresher on what an “idea of reference” means: “the phenomenon of an individual experiencing innocuous events or mere coincidences and believing they have strong personal significance.” (Wikipedia). They can lead to a major delusional state and can put you in the hospital.
If I understand you, you are saying that by taking more leadership in your own life you will have less ideas of reference.
For me dozens of years of correction seem to work for me. It’s a real mystery why we get them and how we can make them go away.

Just want to bump this thread. I am battling the ideas of reference goblin still, it gets bad when I eat junk food and get brain inflammation.

The fight is winnable! Ideas of reference only have the power you give it, you don’t have to care about them at all. It’s easiest to not care about them when your brain is calm and un-inflamed.
