Disability ? Should I?

I was talking to my mum about reapplying. She flipped a bit. She said what the hell you going to do at home ? It’s one of the reasons why I work. If she didn’t push me I’d happily be at home. I do a good job when I’m there but I end up pulling sickies because I can’t take the pressure. Now this job is worst because I don’t feel I can take a sick day for fear work will build up :slightly_frowning_face:

i thought disability was for if you physically cant work you should stick to your job, if you stop working you never know how that could go for you

Guess your right. Hopefully like last time I won’t get sick and forcibly get taken out of work for 6 months.

If you got disability you could afford to take a less stressful part time job.

I worked up until the time I applied for disability. And I was sicker then than I am now. I needed the money. If you are disabled you are disabled. Shouldn’t stop you from applying.

I don’t shy away from working but I’m constantly going from job to job to find somehing I like and can stick to. I hate this job i can’t even take breaks and I do overtime no pay because I fear the workload will build up. I hope it would get less if I work more but more work comes in and it never stops.

Administrative job???

Can you do something artistic? I would love to work in a makeup hair salon

Yeah admin. Though it feels like I’m doing the job of two people. She even told me not to take time off during meetings - those are once a month.

Since this is DX - other I’m just wondering what you think would qualify you for disability? I believe you actually have to be out of work for 3 months before you can even apply.

Oh wow that sucks, I didn’t know this! I might be signed off soon unfortunately, but I think I get SSP (low rate sick pay from work) for a while. I would guess that covers the gap. Going to have to speak to citizens advice and figure things out, assuming I do get signed off.

Also to note, you can go to a disability lawyer and have them file all the paperwork if they take your case for free. That’s what I did.

That’s not true. Failed work attempts make a good case for disability. I didn’t need a lawyer.

I get ESA in the UK and can do up to 16hrs per week permitted work and still claim benefits. I lived with someone in a group home whom still does this and also claims housing benefit and pip.

It’s considered doing well being in part time employment or education, or better.

My dad was in work full time and claimed disability. I am in the U.K.

Pip is similar to DLA which is being scrapped soon bit by bit. You can work full time and still claim.

Hi @anon80629714, how are you! I think your tablet is not working properly so immediately contact a psychiatric and all become as previous in two weeks. It was happened dozens of time to me.

In what sense is it not working. People can get stressed regardless of illness. But for me it is about whether I should allow that stress. Because I time it can result in a relapse.

I said that working is important for us, any how. But you are thinking about govt help and pension like scheme. I personally say in schizophrenia there is no stress relating to work but it is other, like political or social thoughts. In that sense if my mind is under control than I will do any work, so change of tablets are required.

I’m in the USA. I got social security early due to illness. Over the years I’ve taken months off here and there for symptoms/meds changes. This last few years I haven’t even been able to handle the low stress jobs anymore. I’m confused though, it seems to me it should get easier with age but for me it just gets worse. When I was young I was so good at hiding my symptoms. Now I am paranoid that everyone can tell. Also when I was younger I had no idea I had SzA. I thought everyone was like me. But anyway work if you can but if you can’t then you should try for disability income, however that works where you live.
