Hi im new on here. Do any of you get disability for schizo affective?. I am bipolar type. I applied initially back in October but got denied and now I am in the reconsideration phase. I’m wondering what my chances are. I really need the money.
ive been diagnosed both schizophrenic and schizo affective but I said I was schizophrenic for the disability hearing. anyways best wishes and hope it comes through for you. it’s really helped me a lot, I feel like my mental health has really improved just by being able to get away from the stresses of everyday work
Welcome, the diagnosis is not much important for getting on disability.
You need papers from your psychiatrists that demonstrate that you are on treatment and not functioning.
Yes. Hi. I get disability for schizoaffective.
I’m not sure what my psychiatrist is putting in her notes. I’ve been hearing voices and other stuff for four years straight this time. I made the mistake of trying really hard to work but I havnt been able to hold a job for more than a few months at a time. I wish I would have done the suggested outpatient program at the beginning and applied immediately.
How long have you been out of work? Yes, it usually helps if you go along with treatments such as the outpatient program you mentioned. Also I too got SSDI for sza dx. My psychiatrist did the heavy lifting, I just managed to fill out the paperwork correctly, lol.
I am diagnosed schizoaffective, bipolar type and I got on social security disability (SSDI), within three months of application. But, that was back in 1997. I don’t know how it is now. I wish you all the best.
I’m sza also. I’m on ssdi.
My first try at disability I got denied. My second time around I had my mom help me out with all of the paperwork. I got accepted the second time around. I would recommend you have someone help you , like a family member, On the application process.
Most people get denied not because they are not disabled, but because the paperwork has not been handled correctly.
If you still are denied you will want to contact an attorney.
I have sza bipolar type, and I’m on disability for that and other issues. I was initially denied, but I got a lawyer and was approved for SSDI when I appealed and had to appear before a judge. Getting the lawyer made all the difference for me. During the hearing, the judge, having heard enough, cut off the medical expert and said that we didn’t even need to bother talking to the person who tries to determine what kind of job you are fit to do. I told the judge thank you once I knew he was going to approve me, and he told me to thank my lawyer because he had done such a good job. My lawyer did get a percentage of my back pay, but it was worth it to have gotten the disability. I still got a decent sum.
I’m on disability pension for schizophrenia. I wasn’t even taking antipsychotics when I first got on it like I am now.
nice octopus man
I’m on disability benefits for sza but i’m in the UK. I don’t know how it works elsewhere.
I’m on disability for SZA - bipolar type.
Got accepted like within a couple of weeks.
I had a lawyer who helped me out.
It seems ,as with the UK, it’s not how disabled you are but how well you are able to navigate the system that counts .
I went to my ESA medical and was told I wouldn’t of been called in if they’d seen the letter I shown them at the medical. He said I can see you have a severe disability and your money will remain the same. He didn’t type anything in on the computer. He said he has everything he needs in the letter my community nurse wrote and was in and out the building within 15 minutes.
I have not worked in about two years although I did work three days for one week one year ago. I will get a lawyer if I get denied during this reconsideration. I am in the US. Thanks for the replies
A really big part of it in the US is documentation and your doctor. If your doctor doesn’t have loads of notes on you and they don’t 100% support you, there’s no way you’re getting it without a LOT of extra work, if at all.
I’ve been going to the same doctor for about 3 years and others at the same clinic for a year or so so they should have the notes. I kind of screwed up because when I first started going there I tried really hard to hide my symptoms because I was scared of them sending me to an institution. Now I’ve been being really honest with them lately but when I tell my doctor that I’m experiencing hallucination all day long she repeats back that I’m hearing hallucinations intermittently. Thats when Im just like WTF. I was really bad off in my last visit though so I think she is getting the point. I go in again tomorrow morning.
I get SSI for schizoaffective disorder and PTSD. I’m under review still last time I checked.
I receive SSD for sza. Make your worst day sound like it happens everyday. Good luck
