Difficulty waking up in the morning

When I first wake up it’s almost always five minutes of me trying to sort out what was the nightmare I was having and what is real. Then it’s fifteen minutes of trying to get out of bed. That’s followed by another half hour of trying to get my stupid brain to boot all the way up. Drives me crazy that I just can’t roll out of bed and “go” like some people do.

How is it for others?

I am pretty much useless to the world until I have had a cup of tea. But my cognition isn’t too bad

I’m not great at getting out of bed,

But I do wake up early,

Like I’m sure you do.

I wake up around 5 and get out of bed around 5:30.

So it takes that long to pull it together and brave the world.

I need at least an hour to feel fully awake.

I can relate on sorting dream haze and having to remember myself, always worse on heavy dream nights.

No real tips to give, just relating. Gluck dude.

I get out of bed to feed the cat at 7 am, then I have to go back to bed until 9 or 9:30. I need A LOT of sleep, or my brain doesn’t get the reset it needs to take on the world.

But no… I can’t just get out of bed and greet the day. I have to have my coffee and write in my notebook first. Takes awhile to get my mind sorted and the energy up to face the day.

I usually wake up in zombie mode.
Usually thinking that my dreams were wild.
Then I put on my blue light glasses and do a couple exercises to wake up.
Then I eat frosted mini wheats

Then I proceed to be a zombie for another 2 hrs

Hubby is like that too. I can’t have a real conversation with him for a full hour after he awakens. I’m fully alive the second I hit the floor usually, unless it’s a med related issue. Always been that way.

For me, it depends on when I take my meds the night before. If I take them too late I have a very hard time getting out of bed in the morning. If I remember to take them around 9pm then I can usually get up and go right when I wake up

I take my time waking up. I lie about 1 to 2 hours after I wake up in bed. I haven’t set an alarm clock for the last 10 years. Than eventually I get out of bed and need to consume something like water, coffee, cigarettes. This is a typical wakeuproutine. In my younger years I had a shower as soon I woke up, went jogging, had another shower and had breakfast. Cigarettes were secondary back than. That was sometimes.

Yah, it caused real problems the first couple years of marriage because he’d want to bump butts and I’d already have grocery shopped, paid the bills, played civilization iv, done two loads AND cooked breakfast and lunch for all of Japan by the time he got out of bed. No joke.

I maybe have 1 or 2 cups a week right now. Partly because of problems with irregular heartbeat, partly because I put too much cream in it and I’m trying to lose weight.

I realllllly miss that coffee.

Because of my brain inflammation, it feels like im never truly awake anymore. But the first 4 hours of the day are always the worse for me.
