Difference seroquel and seroquel depot tablets

Anybody tried both? Are depot better for sleep? Are there other differences?

I tried to google half life, but apparently the half life for both are 6-7 hours which I found a little strange. You would think depot had a longer half life.

I’m going to ask my doc for a script to try depot anyways, but would be interesting to hear what you guys think.

A new seroquel?

Do you mean the seroquel extended release tablet?

The half life is longer for Seroquel XR because it slowly releases it over time. If you take a normal Quetiapine pill it will wear off after 7 hours or so.

Oil/suspension release will not be the same. Look at peak plasma concentration on any depot vs oral. Half life is different but time release does change the half life of the chemical itself once it has been released if that makes sense

Yes, correct, seroquel xr

I don’t think it’s particulary new, but releases the medicine more slowly over time it seems

Seroquel ir peaks after 6 hours and that makes you extremely tired after some hours while Extended release works by releasing the Seroquel over 24 hours period so that makes you less tired.

I.e. have they same active ingredient the half life of the chemical is all the same.

The release of that chemical is different.

It’s an issue with the source of the information not being clear.

Short acting is going to be better for sleep most likely as the peak levels will knock you out. But if you have issue waking up early or staying asleep LA injectables might be better.

Depot isn’t going to give you any advantage sleep wise. Might be better on your liver

There is a issue that when I have tried to take seroquel regular in the past I wake up way too early, like 5.30-6.00am and not only that but it’s impossible to even rest after waking up.

I think trying extended release can be worth a shot to see what happens sleepwise. Possibly combining standard and xr as well, like 50mg of each could be worth a try.

Why not that may be your silver bullet for sleep.

The XR seroquel did not make me tired at all. When I switched to the XR version of seroquel instead of the regular, I wasn’t tired from it anymore. It was great for me in that way. @Mr_Hope

Exactly. The extended release makes you less tired. This is what I experienced too.

Well, I got approved seroquel xr by the doc which we will try first, maybe combined with regular seroquel. As a second option we have 300mg gabapentin.

The purpose is to quit zyprexa and preferably be on a low dose of seroquel. The challenge is that stopping zyprexa provokes immense sleep problems.

I asked about cbd oil also but got a no go, but turns out I can buy it privately as long as it has zero THC in it here in Norway. I ordered some and will try for sleep.

I hope you find a good solution since you no longer wish to take the zyprexa. Best wishes to you! I hope the xr of the seroquel does the trick.

I do better on seroquel xr personally. It does help me sleep enough, I don’t have to be sedated in the morning with another seroquel pill, and it just feels more like a stable effect.

They both suck. I hope it works better for you.
