Difference between internal voices and intrusive thoughts?

How do you know the difference between internal voices and intrusive thoughts?

I’m getting some orders to do things, and I can’t pinpoint whether they come from voices or my brain, if that makes sense.

I just cant ignore voices, as regards intrusive thoughts, i dont see that as problematic as voices

Good question, I’m having a similar issue with identifying which ones are thoughts and which are voices. I know I can’t ignore voices but I can ignore thoughts. Not to mention voices can sound different altogether. Usually I’m thinking to myself when an intrusive thought interferes. Voices occur when they want to, you could be doing something or you could simply be doing nothing as well.

The way I understand it is that intrusive thoughts feel like your own impulse, while internal voices appear to have a unique, extrapersonal quality to them.

I guess they kinda do feel like impulses, but also a little like orders or like somebody/something is pushing me to do them.
Does that make sense?

I feel that part is a matter of choice. Thinking that someone is making you do those things is maddening, whereas taking ownership of the impulse and forgiving yourself for it is more reasonable.

Thomas Szasz: “In the animal kingdom, the rule is, eat or be eaten; in the human kingdom, define or be defined.” they all come from your brain you can safely assume that

What happens to me, is my thoughts suddenly separate, develop accents and characteristics, tell me what to think and feel.

My thoughts are the ones i have control over. practice having controlled thoughts, it might help a little.

having conversations with the voices, helps me sort out which one is my internal.

Sometimes it is hard to tell, as they do all come from inside our head. I like to hold onto the nice ones. The pleasant comforting voice. the others, i dismiss.

I can tell the difference. Intrusive thoughts are images that I see with my mind. Internal voices have their distinct voices and personalities.

Intrusive thoughts have no meaning. They are sentences that dont make any sence.

Good question! I find the difference between voices and intrusive thoughts is this - the voices have a distinct full linear sentence but intrusive thoughts are just dropped in their entirety like telepathy (if that makes sense). Linear vs. Holistic
