I’ve gained enough weight, so I am going to see a dietician. I also bought a diet and exercise journal. I don’t have the money to buy a gym membership right now, but I can walk around the neighborhood until I can. I plan to join Planet Fitness. I already have exercise outfits. Yay! My goal is to lose 100 lbs. in 17 months. I don’t know if that’s reasonable or not, but I’m going to try.
Idk if you know kg but max of 1kg a week is healthy weight loss
Sounds like u are within that.
Good luck
Good decision for your health all round
Do u know wat bmi u want to be?
I saw a dietitian for a year. I lost a lot of weight by calorie counting but then stopped seeing the dietitian and gained half the weight back !
I’m supposed to see this dietician but I’m unsure if I want to go see her now.
I don’t need a stranger telling me what to eat.
I know exactly what to eat, it’s just that my meds slow down my metabolism and make me constantly hungry.
I take steroids for migraines periodically, plus steroid injections for my knees and back, APs, and have PCOS and hypothyroidism. So I have a lot working against me. I’m not constantly hungry like @Wave, though. I will overeat, however. I gained 100 lbs in 2019 alone. I am ashamed of how big I’ve gotten. Last year at this time, I was a much healthier weight and didn’t have a double chin. Yikes!
I still say that going to see a dietitian may work out for you @Happy_H.
Don’t give up!
I’ve been seeing a dietician on and off, since the year 1996. It wasn’t until the year 2014 that I let the dietician talk me into dieting and counting my calories every day and from that point on, I went on to lose 50 lbs. I have since gained back 10 of those lbs. And, I’m having a very hard time taking them off even though I am counting calories and doing all the things I was doing before.
I’ve been counting calories as well but have lost no weight.
Go for it @Happy_H. I’m currently walking/jogging around my local park 'cos it’s far too hot (summer) for me to do my usual exercise of hiking in the bush. It was hard to start at first but gradually I feel I’m getting a fitter & stronger after a few weeks. Best of luck with the dietician, sounds like you’re motivated & all prepared & ready to go.
It’s a worthy investment in your overall health. I’m actually doing a diet. It’s one from Australia and it’s a more scientific approach. It’s called the CSIRO diet and there’s a newer version out there but the old one isn’t too bad.
Good luck. Hope you pick up some healthy habits with food. I still have my moments and I’ll have the odd jam donuts. Seriously. You have to allow for the odd bits of awesomeness.
Do you use a calorie counting app?
No I use my phones calculator
A calorie counting app would probably be more helpful, accurate, and fun. Have you tried MyFitnessPal.com?
No I haven’t @SkinnyMe
You might enjoy it and get a lot out of it.
I’ll check it out thanks
I used to swear by myfitnesspal, but my OCD kicked in, and I had to stop. I was spending all of my time on it, and unfortunately, I was still gaining. It can be really helpful for some, though. It’s nice to see how many calories something has in it. I was surprised by a lot of things- apples and peanut butter, for example. It seems like a great snack, but it’s very high in calories if you don’t really limit it.
