I had a stuffed animal lamb named Maria. My aunt gave her to me when I was a baby, and she was my absolute favorite. I slept with her every night. I recently tried sleeping with her again to see if it would still be soothing, but it wasn’t really. I was kind of disappointed. I guess I’ve just changed too much.
I had a clown doll, it was a soft one, not a hard doll.
Wen I arrived in England I lost it though and I felt like a piece of me went missing.
I’ve had the security blanket as a kid. I also had a favorite stick I would carry it around when I was outside.
I dont want to say it but every dude’s got one.
Not as a child, but since college I always sleep with the same teddy bear.
I had a few stuffed cats I adored and when I was really little I was attached to a pillow that I named Mr. Pillow, lol.
Have you ever watched the big comfy couch, on PBS? I used to have a Molly doll from that show. I miss her, my mom threw her away.
Oh no, I can only imagine what that felt like. My lamb was so very important to me. I would have been crushed.
Did you anthropomorphize your blanket or your stick? I was into stuffed animals and they were my friends, so I always wondered about the blanket people.
I forgot about that show! I didn’t know what it was until I looked it up just now and remembered it immediately. I’m sorry your mom threw out your doll. I suppose getting another one just wouldn’t be the same.
i had a monkey that was holding a banana. had it all through my childhood and I had it when I was a teen still…it gone now.
I never personified those objects. But my jerk of a neighbor told me one day he broke my favorite stick. That can crush a six year old.
Yes, it wouldn’t be the same. I replaced her with a large brown bear. Yes, I still sleep with it.
Here’s a picture of my lamb’s butt for you @anon12381882. Plus bonus comfort cat.
Ok my hair looks super oily in that pic and I need to remove it. (the pic, not my hair lol).
aww I almost got to see what you look like…please post a pic of you when you don’t have oily hair…haha
I had a stuffed donkey - simply called “donkey” i loved that thing as a boy lol - until my twin brother broke one of its eyes off - i cried for days. Mum threw it out years later, but i wish i still had it for memories sake lol.
I had to learn not to get too attached to possessions as a kid. I’d get cool toys for Xmas, but then they’d be pawned/sold within a few weeks so my mom had $$$ for her smokes/booze. I think the one thing I managed to hang onto longest was a ratty teddy bear, then it disappeared with most everything else I had when I was homeless.
When I was 5 or 6 I had a stuffed dog. I carried it everywhere. One time my sister threw it in the pool and it’s fur got kind of dirty and matted. I’m 58 now and that dog is sitting in my closet in a basket. It’s about the only thing I have left from my childhood, and that makes me sad.
I had blanket with fringe all around it when I was really young. I called it my frizzy blanket. Then I had a stuffed dog given to me by my big brother. I still have him. His name is Hiccup.
