Did anyone else sign up for those Columbia House cd memberships in the 90s?

They were like 8 CDs for a penny.

If you didn’t read the fine print you were on the hook for an expensive membership and started to get CDs regularly in the mail.

Kids don’t normally read the fine print.

I had cassettes as a kid and CDs as a teenager.

Yeah, I belonged to three record clubs at the same time. I don’t really thing the deals were that terrible, with the 12 free records you commit to buying 5 more at club prices and in the end it all averaged out to about what you would pay in a record store.

I also belonged to a few book clubs. Ended up getting multiple books sent to me that I wasn’t interested in.

I did a bmg cd club over and over where you get 12 cd’s for a buck and then you have to buy three to get to where you can cancel and re do again…I must have gotten around 200 cd’s doing that…it was fun.
