You might be Schizoaffective Bipolar type, but I won;t guarantee something like that until you get a surefire diagnosis.
It can have similarities between Schizophrenia and Bipolar if you have the Bp subtype.
I know I can portray both, and been kinda struggling with mood swings lately.
My current psychiatrist is a real genius.
Trained in Ivy League Colleges and Universities.
Worked as Head psychiatrist in a well known Hospital for years.
Practiced psychiatry for years and certified in General psychiatry, Addiction psychiatry and Geriatric psychiatry.
But up to this day, she does not have a clue whether I suffer with Bipolar disorder or Schizoaffective Disorder.
I guess it really doesn’t matter as the meds are the same.
Often changes with course of the disorder. Difference to me is that your exhibiting a different set of symtpoms over usual paranoid schizophrenia. It’s really about treatment more than anything. In the old days there were heaps of different diagnosis or flavours of things. Gladly those days are over…with the better meds and understanding you’ll often find a change.
I’ve found that different countries are a little different in diagnosis. America, for example, is more likely for a shrink to say your sz affective. It’s different over here in Australia but that is a broad generalisation for sure. Take the pills as prescribed. Where you end up may be a little different from where you started!
I’ve been diagnosed with depresion, schziophrenia, bipolar and schizoaffective. The last two were diagnosed by thr same doctor. I’m sticking with schizophrenia.
Over time I’ve been dxed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective mixed type, bipolar,PD NOS and finally paranoid PD.
My first diagnosis was mild depression, then it was Major Depression, recurrent and severe. Then it was changed to Bipolar, then it was changed to Schizoaffective, bipolar type, then it was changed to Schizophrenia, residual type. Then, it was changed back again to Schizoaffective. So, that’s where I stand now.
