I dont halucinate or hear voices that I know of. I have boatload of anxiety, running talk to myself or friend sometimes. Paranoia or social phobia. I am diagnosed but I wonder. Also pdoc had me give dna to determine medicines that are best. Zyprexa just makes me unable to think. I am not having fun. Cannot watch tv or read because of intrusive thoughts and anxiety/ So has anyone heard of this dna test and do I have scz?? ///TThere is no support. Does anyone have ideas for home services??? Llike a scz maid organizer?
I’ve never heard of a dna test to determine the right medication, are you sure it was a dna test. There isn’t really a test to determine the right medication, it’s all trial and error.
As for home help, as @notmoses has pointed out, getting a social worker will help you with figuring out all your options.
Actually, there are tests in trial now for that. They don’t actually determine the “right” anti-P per se, but do eliminate some of the “wrong” ones. The DNA for olanzepine vs. quetiapine, for example, has been understood for some time.
We’ve covered this in the past - check this news item:
Yes - see the posting I just did on this test. It sounds pretty good. What country are you in?
as far as your other questions - it depends where you are. services / support for people with mental health problems vary alot around the world.
Not exactly a ringing endorsement from the original poster though with regards to this trial and error alternative.
Ringing endorsement sounds judgmental
We’re all in the same boat, dna test or not. I’m on abilify and I hate it. I too have anxiety, but also tiredness, memory problems, lack of motivation, and the list goes on.
This was the best drug for me after a lot of trial and error.
The best thing you can do is tell your psychiatrist, and decide with him what the best course of action is.
Personally I wouldn’t trust this dna test. That’s just me.
I’m waiting for an email to tell me if one can get it in the US. The company is in Ohio.
So far trial and error is what my doctors have believed in. Including three times trying me on risperidone.
