Day 10 ! never been this far on a quit before (not smoking)

I really can’t get over being on day 10. on day 8 we went and celebrated mom’s birthday on tuesday. mom was smoking but I was able to stay clean and not bum one from her. we had chalupas and bavarian creme cake. mom got drunk and I haven’t seen her do that in a long time. haha

Well done  I can’t seem to be able to go without. Luckily there are ecigs, would hate to think what state I would be in if it were not for those.

I just try to lay off the vaporizer. Stuff is addictive. I can do lozenges when I am not at home, but at home I vape.

The best thing is not smoking on your part…that’s incredibly hard to do. It took me a year to not smoke from when I first tried to quit. It is a huge health improvement, the number one thing you can do to be healthier.

I say treat yourself to something, you deserve a little gift to yourself for that- and it will remind you why you quit- to stay alive and be able to enjoy things.

Congratulations @jukebox …you should tell yourself over and over that you have stopped 10 days and that you’re NOT going backwards. The same for day 11 and 12 and 13 and so on. Keep on building your pride for being able to achieve yet another day. Be proud of yourself for each minute you said no to the cravings. In no time 4 months have passed and you’re clean and craving free. But don’t ever take a puff again. I have quit for 8 years now. Just this morning I read the warning on the back of a cigarette box…it says smoking can kill you and that non smokers and ex-smokers live longer

Hang in there, jukebox! It took me about fifty tries to quit. Maybe this one will be the one where you finally overcome it.

Congrats juke! 53 days sober is the longest I’ve gone while not in an institution! We should be proud of ourselves! Reward yourself with ice cream or something.

thank you @anon84763962 are you british or are you american? the well done sounded british is why I ask. go England !

No I’m Australian! I only hope when I say “well done” to people it doesn’t come across as condescending. It isn’t my intention to come across that way, I’m genuinely proud of your effort.

I didn’t find it condescending at all. well done is something nice to say in my book.

Excellent! I’m so happy for you @jukebox! You’re winning and that’s a hard fight to win. I’m a smoker myself and when I think of quitting, which I do every so often, I actually think of you.

I don’t know if you’re male or female but I wish I could give you a big old hug. haha

good job! I never though I would be able to quit smoking, my genetics are pretty poor addiction-wise. But suddenly it’s been 3 years. I miss smoking occasional shisha. But that is the only thing I miss.

If you have to substitute cigs with something else (like nicotin gum or soda) it does not matter because it is anyways SO MUCH healthier than smoking. I like to think ‘this is fully legal’ -while I drink my ice coffee inside public transportation or in a store or something. You could not do that smoking. That is cool.

I’m a female. I was going to write girl, but I’m 34 and probably don’t qualify as ‘girl’ anymore. But I don’t think I could bring myself to call me a woman!

you’re only as old as you feel…they say…34 is still very young to me. I’m 54 and act like a thirty something…haha…love hard rock and old rock. are you afraid of great white sharks in your australian ocean fronts? I know they are on the great barrier reef anyways…?

We have shark nets on surf coasts for swimming so I’m not really afraid of them. I would be more afraid of them if I was a surfer because they go further out in the ocean to catch waves.

We have some pretty frightening jellyfish too.

I think Australia is the land of scary poisonous creatures!
