Country music: an observation

I like country music because I can hear the lyrics correctly. I can’t tell you how many times I listened to a song and knew nothing of the art of music-telling. With country, it’s coherent and usually about something positive. Go country!

I did a poll on country music a while ago

I have a deep love/affinity for country music. More so the older stuff. I just bought Willie Nelson’s new CD though.

But Johnny Cash is the greatest and always will be, in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing the poll. Why do so many sz dislike country and western. I’ll read your post replies to see if I can solve this conundrum

One member said it was for simpler folk. Doesn’t that bode well for sz? Do we need complications? Way I see it, KISS: keep it simple sir

Growing up, I listened to a lot of country music because that’s what my parents listened to. I don’t really listen to country anymore but it is nostalgic to hear some of that old stuff every now and then. Kind of takes me back to a simpler time.

Did you know the Friends song goes, “feels like you’re always stuck in second gear.” I found this out via subtitles a week ago, I always thought they were saying “second year,” like sophomore year in high school or something.

I love Townes Van Zandt! I think someone made a thread about him a while back.

He was great wasn’t he. He had his share of personal problems which you can hear in his music. But he was really funny too - some of his jokes at live gigs were hilarious

Yes, I love that line in “I’ll be here in the morning.” Something like “There’s no sweeter sight than the town you left behind.”

He did struggle with some problems though, for sure.

They made a great documentary about him. I apologize but I can’t remember the title of it.

I agree. Country is soothing. I struggle with some pop songs. Like Do you believe in miracles. I heard that once and I was like just say Miracles don’t over jazz it. Sheesh.

I like some country music, but there’s too much talk about alcohol for me. Also, not many black country music artists, in my opinion.

I do like that if I play the CD backwards, the guy gets his girl back, job back, pickup truck back, gun back, and fish back.

Edit: But not his HelenBack…

Don’t get me wrong: I like country. I like Garth, Reba, and many more. And I do think that country is becoming more inclusive.

I don’t want to come off as a hater. I’m not.

You’re too busy to have time for hate. No booze references, inclusion:
