So I got a couple speeding tickets. Now when I am driving I am seeing cops everywhere. Regular cars shape shift into cop cars and then I start to think any car following behind me is a cop trying to catch me. It makes it difficult to drive. Also any lights I see on the road in the corner of my eye I think is coppers. I try to drive safe and stay to the right. Its like a battle since I am compulsed to drive in the fast lane or keep up with traffic. I find it extremely difficult to drive right now. I almost want my license to be revoked but I know that would be even more stressful. Why cant I drive in peace?
Man following my first major psychotic break I thought every car behind me was an undercover cop. Don’t know what to say. Time helps
Yea I sometimes get that too. Almost like they are waiting to try to catch you during a moment. It gets stuck in my head and I am on edge constantly which tires me out. Yea time usually helps me when I am suffering from any symptoms but it still sucks in the meantime. I appreciate the understanding!
I was expecting this to be about copper wire or pipes or pennies
“What’s a penny made out of?” " Dirty copper!"
A joke for @Jimbob
How was copper wire invented?
It happened when 2 scotsmen spotted a penny lying on the ground at the same time.
Not sure if you get my humor. It’s based on the assumption that scottish people are said to be misers… which by the way I don’t endorse due to lack of personal evidence
I have this problem, too. I deal with it by making sure I obey all traffic laws at all times. Probably makes me super annoying to share a road with, but it isn’t so bad, as far as coping mechanisms go.
Although, I might suggest that if you’ve already gotten two speeding tickets, it might be a good idea to stick in the right lane instead of keeping up with traffic in the passing lane.
Haha! I can confirm a significant amount of scots are misers. We call it being tight.
Yea i agree. It is hard since i have to fight my ocd which makes me want to. Also my desire to be reckless. I really hate driving. If i could have a robot do it for me I would.
Give it a few years, and you probably can have a robot drive for you!
I have to struggle with OCD while driving, too. Mine is more dangerous. I have a compulsion to avoid shadows on the road. I obviously can’t do that without causing several accidents, so I have to fight it. It does make driving stressful, but I have been keeping my OCD in check with neurofeedback. How do you treat your OCD?
Yea that wpuld be super cool! Must be stressful having to fight it all the time. The obly med I am on is certraline 50ml a day. Maybe it isnt working enough but the amount it does came at such a relelief that things seemed a bit more tolerable.
Well you just said you had some big life changes, right? Big life changes always make my symptoms worse. Maybe they will die down again once you’ve adjusted.
Yea this is true. Though for me it can be really random triggers. Or just spontaniouse. I havnt figured it all out yet but im working on it
I can also confirm a significant number of us Scots are tight with money but generous in personality.
