Constant flight/flight?!

As soon as I walk outside of my home my fight/flight reaction goes on. I feel stressed out, my heart beats, I feel like I’m going to lose it. I don’t know what to do??

It might be a kind of agoraphobia:

Agoraphobia is a fear of being in situations where escape might be difficult or that help wouldn’t be available if things go wrong. Many people assume agoraphobia is simply a fear of open spaces, but it’s actually a more complex condition”

I have it at times, and what helps me, is telling myself there is no danger and try to relax and breathe calmly.

Is it fear/anxiety or irrational paranoia?

Do you feel sweaty especially in your head area when you get this? I get like that. I also feel like I can barely move.

I have issues with being in stores or waiting in the line. I get these panic attacks. The anxiety has been isolated to those places. But lately, I feel so freaking stressed when I go outside and I don’t know why? It’s like my fight/flight is constantly switched on.

No it’s not irrational paranoia.

Still let your Dr know, I think benzos too are used for anxiety. He knows better.

They are very restrictive with prescribing benzos. And to be honest I don’t want to take them because of dependency. But I’ll speak with my doc.

Are you almost always indoors and alone. That’s my problem, no people skills.

Yes I am. 151515

I have really nowhere to go but the library, but it helps some. So I don’t get irritated at people I sit in a popular park to get acclimated.

No I live with family, sometimes I go out with family or friends but its rare since I stopped Abilify. I dont have anxiety, I am ok socially, I can talk for hrs with friends.

@Speedy

I would try therapy before taking a benzo. I like “Therapy in a Nutshell” on YouTube. She talks about the amygdala, anticipatory anxiety, and breathing. Here’s one of her videos:

This is a similar video than the one that I intended to post, but she has several videos about the fight/flight/freeze response.

I apologize for that.

I thought you said you had no friends.and that you don’t get out of bed.

I take a beta blocker ! They slow down your heart rate ! A lot of performers use them for performance anxiety
