Confused and Worried About Being Outed at Work

Im about 3 weeks into my new job. It was supposed to be a receptionist but theyve switched me to be a teacher in math and reading. I dont have a degree in education, just journalism and mass communications in broadcast, so: being behind the camera, editing footage, doing podcasts. I haven’t done math since 2015. And I’m supposed to be tutoring kids. Every night I go home and try to learn the math, practice doing it off the top of my head, and learn about complex sentences. Everyday a kid comes up to me and asks me something different and Im confused. I haven’t done math by hand/ off the top of my head since grade school and this one lady seems like she has it out for me to out me. I had a meeting with my supervisor and told her I would like to go back to my receptionist position but she still puts me with the kids to tutor them. I want to quit but Ive had like 30 jobs already and am trying to do better.

Idk i think you can learn WITH the kids. Math at a young age isnt hard try not to stress about it and just prepare your lessons before hand. Great job to you for working and putting in the effort

Thanks for the encouragement. I think the pressure comes from that the kids are expected to do the work within a certain time frame and everybody else around me is quick and it just takes me a little bit more time to explain it so I freeze up and forget. There’s so much pressure on these kids to get it right in a certain time frame and by hand, it would be unfair of me not to know. Plus i don’t think the lady who’s assigning me likes me that much. She was the one who told my supervisor that I couldn’t multi task and wouldn’t be a good fit as a receptionist when that was what I was trained in.
