Confused about my meds

The APs and mood stabiliser I take as usual, but I switched mood stabiliser (lamotrigine) from evening to morning because I took more meds at night and less in morning.

It’s the AD mirtazapine I’m confused about.

I was prescribed it for sleep and it helped - until now. All it does nowadays is give me akathisia in legs so what I did was swap it to the morning from the night.

So now I take mirtazapine in morning instead of night.

I don’t know if it makes me sleepy in day because I’m almost always sleeping the morning away if we don’t go out . I just notice sometimes the akathisia a few hrs after taking it but not any more sleepy

What I mean is even when I took it at night I slept more in day.

Now at night I only take my two APs amisulpride and haloperidol and I struggle to fall asleep.

I am awake till about midnight if I go to bed 10pm. It takes me about an hour or two to fall asleep

My next pdoc appt is next week wedn and he said last time if mirtazapine at highest dose doesn’t work

(I already lowered dose as it doesn’t help only makes akathisia a little worse)

If it doesn’t work then he’s doing to give me 5mg haloperidol all in one dose at night (I’m taking 4mg now in divided doses).

I’m worried the neck muscles will get stiff again but I’m willing to try it just to sleeeeep

Why is my circadian rhythm all back to front? Why can’t I just sleep?

It’s been a while since Alien bothered me (voices or inserted thoughts) but the radio in my head plays every day songs in my head. But it’s not distressing so it’s ok

Depression comes and goes. At least I can read books still.

I think this is out of our league to know how to fix it all. I think you need to ask your dr. I’m confused, are you taking mirtazapine for sleep or as an AD. If it’s for sleep, don’t take it anymore. If you’ve been on it a long time, ask your dr to help you wean off of it.

I found Remeron to be a scary drug. It made me feel like I was sleeping when I wasn’t. Like pretend sleep. I would wake up and have this false sense of being rested. If you don’t feel any benefit from it I would stop it.

Try supplements like magnesium, melatonin, tryptophan, l-serine, tart cherry for sleep to be taken in the evening 1-2 hours before bedtime.

Mirtazapine regulates your sleep wake cycle via it action with melatonin so I would think it would be best to take at night. Not entirely sure the mechanism/delay so maybe taking it in the morning works idk
