Concerts you've seen in the past...best ones first

Probably the best concert I ever saw was the Rolling Stones in 81, second place, the Eagles, third place, Frank Zappa, also saw the Pretenders, Jimmy Cliff, the go go’s, the Police (twice in the same year as Synchronicity tour.), Kiss, Heart, Aerosmith in the seventies…Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers late 91. Dwight Yoakum, Reverend Horton Heat, Junior Brown, and others I can’t remember right now…what concerts have you seen that you loved?

You’ve been to a lot of concerts! I used to go to a university bar every single night and the bands really sucked. New years eve 1986 I went to a bar and watched a blues guitarist who is famous in that town. It was a good concert. Recently I’ve seen Schubert’s fifth symphony performed. Beethoven followed but I was too burnt out to enjoy it. I’ve only been to a few real concerts in my life. I own Elvis Costello concert on DVD. I would like to go see him. I’d like to see Jeff Beck, I watched him frequently before he died. Now he’s dead, I’d like to see Joe Bonomasa.

I’m interested in Reina de cid, and Sierra Hull, and Xeufei Yang. Yang is the best guitarist I’ve ever seen.

I haven’t been to a lot but I’ve seen some good ones. The best, without a doubt, was Bruce Springsteen in 1978. He put on a four hour show and he had more stage presence, charisma and energy than any other act I’ve seen. Other acts were good though, I saw Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones in 1978, I saw Santana, Eddie Money, I saw Keith Richards when he got in a disagreement with Mick in 1987 and Keith went solo.

I’ve seen Aerosmith, R.E.M., Bonnie Raite, Heart, John Denver, Sheryl Crow, Huey Lewis and the News, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, and maybe one or two other ones I can’t remember. Oh yeah, I saw Black Sabbath-but without Ozzie Osbourne.

I saw a Hatsune Miku concert almost a decade ago I’d love to see another concert like that but with COVID I doubt I’ll ever get to again.

I’ve only been to one concert in person. It was Kansas. They’re not bad, but they’re not my favorite. I’ve seen a couple of concerts on tv where the performers were doing it perfect. Every move, every note was perfect. One was Sly and the Family Stone at one of the Fillmores, and the other group was someone I didn’t know, but they were hitting on all cylinders. I think in both cases the group was high on heroin. Sly Stone didn’t do so well after a brief moment of fame. They said he’d be falling off the stage during a concert.

I have hated every single large concert I was dragged to. HATED. There have been some performances at small venues I liked. First place goes to Jeff Healey. Second goes to Tracy Chapman.

  1. Lindsey Stirling (best visual effects, different outfits for every song, incredible dancers and dance routines, etc…)
  2. AFI with Circa Survive (at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado)
  3. As I Lay Dying (I’ve seen them at least 4 times; amazing shows, very high energy, excellent use of lights and visual effects)
  4. Pinback (very small and personal concert; super chill)
  5. The Neighborhood (awesome vibe, just feeling great and everyone is moving as one, all together)

The best concert that I went to was Bob Segar in his final tour through Detroit. I still remember almost all of it in the order it went.

I’ve never been to a concert. The remote location of where I live makes being part of a concert a problem. I look forward to going to one when I get on top of my work ethic.
