Complaint about healthy food

It is either overpriced or contains nuts that I’m allergic to.

Rant over.

Fibre bread, eggs, milk, fruits & salad aren’t overpriced are they?

Yes they are. Everything is marked up beyond reason.

Yes they are in most shops unless they’re bought from an independent market.

For example, in my local shop, it is only £1 for a massive chocolate bar yet a small pot of fruit costs £2.50 !!

i like to get bargains if i can  i like trying to save money

@Jesspresso I guess those who can afford to buy healthy food can & will while those who cannot afford nutritious food will not.

@anon1571434 It would be unethical to mark up food that is essential to the population.

Fortunately for the food industry, there are a lot of unethical people in the world.

That’s true but I’m sure it’s only temporary. With the internet, you can buy good food for cheap. Just gotta find it.

A loaf of white bread is $1, but whole grain bread is $4. Cinnamon sugar applesauce is $1, but no sugar added is $3. A small bag of apples is $5, but a massive tub of cheese puffs is only $3. Sugared processed peanut butter is $2, but natural peanut butter is $6.

@LED There are both unethical people who drive demand for unhealthy foods and unethical people who supply those unhealthy foods.

@anon1571434 Yeah, online grocery shopping is beginning to take off but the industry is still at its early stages.

You mean the mixes made of lots of little pieces of stuff or protien bars?

I eat that sometimes, but I like fresh chilled fruit and simple oven roasted vegetables a lot more.

There are fifty million ways to make salad. My favorite is baby spinache leaves, not lettuce. Dried cranberries and chopped apple. the dressing is sweet and simple too: about two tablespoons of apricot preserves and one and half of water in a small dish. The two are heated, just a little, in a small dish in the microwave. Then stired a minute. The dressing would be made first so it will cool while the salad is being made.
If I want an extra kick of flavor then place the chopped apple in abowl and stir to coat with a couple of spoons of orange juice. Letting them sit in that bowl a couple of minutes lets them take on more of the juice flavor.
what do you eat? mostly?
