Coming off of paliperidone to get my life back to normal

I have been taking paliperidol for 9 months but the side effects are disgusting. These are:
Insomnia
Not wanting to wash/bath
Blurry vision
Body getting tired very easily
Emotional numbness
No smile
No tears
Low mood to name but a few.
I will not be taking this medication again. I will post after every month on my progress to see if the side effects go away.

Are you replacing it with another medication? Or are you just weaning off of it?

I told my doctor I want to replace it with aripriprazol. My doctor has not decided yet what to replace it with but I am deffinetely not taking invega again

You can try Aristada, it’s very similar to Ability but is specifically for sz and sza whereas Ability is better for bipolar.

I switched from In Vega to Aristada and am happier.

Welcome to the forum!!! I think it’s good that you’re discussing your meds with your pdoc. I hope he comes up with a better med for you

Try over 9 years on this med.

Do you want a cookie?

Can also try latuda I am on that one. I had low motivation on invega and high prolactin.

Surprised to hear that. Been on the injectable of paliperadone for close to 7 years now - and have zero side effects. (Well yeah - slightly droopy willy - but i dont care about that lol)

It suits me fine.

So now my doctor thinks I should try procyclodene instead of changing medications. What a disaster. I was looking forward to coming off of paliperidol once and for all. Hopefully in a months time I’ll be off of it

Procyclodene is suppose to counteract the side effects. I know it’s not gonna work already. I need to be off the medication all together not be taking more meds on top of it

Welcome to the world of sz.

Seriously though, from my experience Caplyta, Vraylar, Abilify, Rexulti are the best for negative symptoms as they dont fully block dopamine, partial dopamine agonists. But they are less effective than Risperdal, Zyprexa and Invega.

Latuda also doesn’t block much dopamine, my negative symptoms on it were much better than Risperdal and Zyprexa.

So my other doctor has prescribed me abilify. So thank god no more paliperidol

Get off that poison

@folkusthesecond what was your experience of it

I was a jazz musician studying, working and teaching in Toronto but ever since I got put on invega I haven’t been able to do any of those things. I’ve been disabled and living with my mother in Nova Scotia. Bad cognitive skills, bad reflexes, bad motor skills, no emotions what so ever.,
