Co worker bailed on work today

Idk if she was stoned or something cuz she lets me in the building cuz she has the keys. Says I’m going to look at apartments illl be back. I go to do my upstairs and my door is locked. So I call my boss eventually, he says it’s never locked. Check downstairs then do the girls job of doing the downstairs. He says I’ll contact her.

So I’m doing much of the downstairs she comes back 80 mins later she says “you’re Doing my part”. I say you didn’t talk to the boss. She says no. Then she says wait actually I did. That’s why I thought she was stoned. But anyways she ends up leaving not doing any work. She gives me the keys. My boss shows up. Turns out none of those keys work anyways. My boss says I’ll (jonnybegood) will finish the upstairs tomorrow when he gets a vacuum. 2 more hours of work tomorrow I wasn’t expecting. I’m happy with my job so far it wasn’t easy but i was the reliable one. My boss is cool. He treats me well.

That’s annoying! Hopefully though, it will highlight what a good worker you are compared to others and your boss will be especially grateful to have you back.

Being available and filling in helps heaps when your new. Shows you’ve some moxy and your there to play. Hope it’s a bit more smooth sailing in your next few shifts but sounds like your doing well with it. Keep on keeping on.

I wonder if it’s just the nature of the line of work but they get some reliable employees and then they get some really unreliable ones too lol

yep. I worked a great cleaning job, before I was bullied out of it over my mental illness,
but anyway, I had day shift, by myself,
then on occasion the supervisor got pop and pizza
for the night shift, so I went in, off the clock,
and we all sat in the break room eating, and laughing and carrying on. I bet we were in there over 45 minutes, and didn’t care.
Just to say, Jon, it’s just a job, don’t overdo it.

That wouldn’t happen here. They’re so chill down to earth. The bosses daughter even told me she has anxiety and depression maybe. Because I think I mentioned I get depressed in winter time once.

does she work in the office, his daughter?
some of these cleaning companies are all family owned and run.
if so, you found a good one.

She does cleaning. The mother is really the office person. The father is the on-site trainer and worker and covers for people. He’s in his 70s but he’s really in great shape not to mention great guy. And the daughter who’s adopted, will probably take over one day as the boss. She’s trained me too. She’s a supervisor already I guess. But the father is who I deal with the most. The company is very Christian. I’m definitely I think a minority in the company. Considering I’m the only white worker I’ve ever met here. The owners are black. The workers have all been black and Hispanic besides myself.
