Is clozapine any good for negative symptoms or do you need a separate medication if so which one?
It helps, but Clozapine takes a lot of responsibility with all the blood tests. First you get your blood drawn every week, for 6 weeks, then every other week for 6 weeks. Then finally once every month you are on it.
There is no treatment for negative symptoms, however some people find relief from sarcosine.
I’m on clozapine already it’s helping a bit
Is there really no treatment for negative symptoms?
I’m thinking that I should try clozapine.
Do you have any side effects?
When I took clozapine I was dizzy all the time. Could barely walk. Ultimately I had to quit Leponex (clozapine) from my cardiologist. My heart rate was 130 bpm at rest. The advantage is that you sleep all the time. Days pass quickly.
Some side effects - the usual weight gain and sleepiness but also drooling at night and dry throat during the day plus some urinary incontinence
Did you notice more side effects than other regular aps?
I have minimal side effects from Clozaril and it’s helped me a ton; I really recommend it especially if nothing else is working.
Thank you. I am a little afraid of blood work
Honestly, you’ll get used to it and one year passes quickly
Even after a year of blood tests, I still don’t regret it.
Were you treatment resistant too?
Yes. I tried many and combinations and I was still psychotic.
Now I take 400mg Clozaril as my only AP.
I was able to drop 100mg of Latuda.
I’m glad your considering it @Om_Sadasiva
