Anyone switched between Clozapine and Risperidone?

Which one was better for negative symptoms? My pdoc thinks Clozapine is best med for negative symptoms.

I think meds are trial and error and everyone responds different.

Yeah the problem is we’re just a group of people going through similar struggles we can’t prescribe you clozaril so you have to go through a licensed psychiatrist I don’t think a GP can prescribe it from what I’ve heard

It was a pdoc who wanted to prescribe it. I will have to apply for a new pdoc. I did the clozapine heart tests and she gave me a clozapine blood test paper but I never went. I don’t like the idea of weekly blood tests, its scary

She actually prescribed it but i didn’t do the blood tests and told her i dont want it anymore

Taking meds is vital for sz there are no alternatives to meds if they prescribed you clozapine then you might have to do it I would not worry too much blood tests aren’t that painful

Clozapine blocks little dopamine compared to other APs, it acts on muscarinic and gaba receptors too

I read it can cause cardiomyopathy and suppress immune system and highest weight gain and many other scary side effects

You know alot about meds however doctors know more surprisingly

If you like sleeping a lot, it’s a great med.

I know I’ve said it numerous times, but clozapine has been the best psych med I’ve taken. It especially reduced the suicidal ideation and self harm. The weekly blood tests are a simple finger stick and after a while it’s only once a month. It’s been a great med for me…until it started cardiac problems. I have tachycardia and QTc prolongation from it and my dose has had to be reduced, I may have to eventually discontinue it, but I hope it will stay effective at the lower dose. I’ve been on everything, and clozapine helped me the best.

You do it at home? Did it help negative symptoms?

The finger stick was done at my pdocs office and, yes, it does help the negatives.
