I am bigger than I was before meds. I used to be 122. Now I am 133. I am 5’5". My jeans are size 27 waist or size 2, 4, 7 or 8. Clearly some brands particpate in ‘vanity sizing’. My 7’s and 8’s are a tad bigger but not by much.
Bizarre how they can be so close in size and the labels (sizes) vary so much.
I am currently 35 pounds heavier than last year.
size 6 or medium - from small. I just look like a tanned panda right now
Lol, I used to be 28 to 32 in men’s sizes, now I’m nearly double that number. You two are fine in your sizes in my opinion. If you look like a tanned panda then I look like a hairy grizzly bear.
there must be some identification on this site for male and female =(
I choose to see myself as looking ‘cuddly’
I miss my hard body though.
yep…those were the days, lol. sigh.
I am not sure what that means but I like it lolz
I used to work out 5 days a week. I did that for over 20 years. I was very fit. A ‘hard body’. I quit working out when I got sick (MI) in June of 2015. I gained weight and lost all my muscle. I am cuddly now, haha.
I am trying to get the energy up to start working out regularly. I am hit or miss at the gym.
Dude I can relate. When I was on heavy doses of risperidone I was up to a size 42 waist. It got to the point where I just wore sweatpants.
Now I am about at a 36-38 which is still sort of bad. Oh well.
“Clothing sizes”
doesn’t matter with yoga pants
Yeah I ballooned in weight with Haldol. A couple of years ago when I stopped taking my medications I was about a 34 again. I was regaining confidence in my self image. It’s a shame meds can cause weight gain. Luckily I recently switched from injections to pills so I’ve been losing about 10 pounds each month. I think if I exercised more I’d lose weight faster.
That’s awesome on losing the 10 pounds each month. If I had more motivation I would exercise more.
I’m slowly losing weight. lost 30 lbs and 1 underwear size over about 3 years. Right now I am trying to get off of Zyprexa so I can lose weight faster and at least be chubby instead of what I am right now.
I have heard Zyprexa is really hard as far as weight gain. When I first became MI (in June 2015) they started me on Risperidone and I gained 15 pounds in 3 weeks! No BS. It was crazy. I am only about 10-12 pounds over right now since they lowered my dose but, geez, these AP’s are hard on the ole beltline
I gained so much weight on risperidone too. I became a depressed zombie who couldn’t function sexually. The idiot doc at the va who prescribed that stuff had some kind of fetish for that med. He just kept upping the dose when I complained my symptoms.
Good to hear you’ve lost most of the weight. Actually I would love to only be 12 pounds overweight as the last time I was a normal weight was the year I was Dx’ed at 14 when I was on Perphenazine.
Ya, I also noticed that Risperidone also affects me sexually. I am not aroused at all. I am single so I just don’t masturbate. I suppose I miss it a little but not as much as many other people from what I have read on different threads. I guess I am grateful it isn’t a big deal to me.
The extra weight definitely bothers me more.
I have about 20 kg extra weight. I have been 130 kg some years ago. Now I’m 90 kg and seem to be stuck there.
Ya, I eat EXACTLY the same as when I was 10-12 pounds lighter. It is the meds. They slow your metabolism down. So annoying. I know they also increase some people’s appetite but they definitely also affect metabolism.
I believe that too. My pdoc says the med don’t do anything with the metabolism. I don’t believe her.
Don’t think like that, there’s nothing wrong with a 36-38, sounds like a nice size to me, especially if your healthy.
