I have started a 1200 calorie a day diet for a couple of weeks as my weight was slowly creeping up. In this way it is easier to manage for me rather than letting myself go and then needing a lengthy diet in the long run.
It is difficult when I have tinned fruit and a dark chocolate bar in the cupboard, but I manage to resist.
So the thought crossed my mind as to which is harder?
Worth nothing that quitting smoking is gonna plump you up a little bit and that turns a lot of people off of it. Still a very very healthy and financially sound decision to quit though.
I’ve been following around 1200 kcals for the last few months and quitting vaping at the same time (I’m 5’3" and 154 lbs). They’re BOTH difficult but for me the quitting vaping is harder. And quitting actual cigarettes 9 months ago was even harder. I had to do it for cardiac issues. In perspective, I’ve been using nicotine for 31 years but I’ve been eating for 49 years! I’m also on metformin and Mounjaro, tho, so that helps the eating…but since starting Zyprexa I find that it’s harder to not think about food.
I am female…the meds are for diabetes, as it’s the only way Medicare will cover the Mounjaro. For perspective, I weighed 298 lbs three years ago and started out on the metformin and, originally, Saxenda samples my doc gave me (didn’t have the diabetes then). I was also on clozapine then.
That is a great achievement with the weight loss. Well done!
Weird that diabetes hasn’t been reversed though, unless it is type 1.
For me, I weigh myself everyday and finally hit a small peak so I am managing it early with a quick fast diet. I am not obese, so it isn’t really a problem for me, luckily.
My hemoglobin A1c is now in the normal range (5.3) but my glucose tolerance is still poor…so if I binge eat on candy or something my sugars go into the 300-400s. So I have to severely limit those foods. It was easier to not eat much when I smoked, so now I chew a lot of gum…I also will NOT keep junk foods in the house, cuz they call to me if they’re there.
