Christmas goodies?

Here in the great USA we have egg nog and fruitcake during Christmas :christmas_tree::gift:. Do you like those things?

I hated egg nog but loved fruitcake, but my favorite Christmas treat when I was a child was candy canes. My mom would put them on the Christmas tree so I now do that for my daughter and she loves eating the candy canes right off the tree.

My grandma used to make home-made toffee and cut in to bight size pieces and wrapp them individually in baking paper and put the individual wrapped toffee in gift bag .
She would give as a xmas treat to some people.

Sweet gesture although can be messy and difficult to clean.

She baked heaps.

In sa we made homemade rum balls which was nice.

Christmas baking is big in Sweden .

I don’t do much Christmas baking anymore.

I would love to make some homemade eggnog n goodies.:slightly_smiling_face:

Glögg is popular in Sweden at Christmas as is julmust.

I hate them both. I do like to bake cookies, though. Sugar cut-out cookies with homemade icing and sprinkles are especially nice. My son likes peanut butter, and my youngest daughter prefers chocolate chip. My oldest prefers chocolate uglies (aka chocolate crinkle cookies).

I liked egg nog more before I quit drinking. Tastes wrong without the rum.

Every year for the Christmas holiday my mom would make and still makes these cherry thumb print cookies.

So freaking good.

Egg nog is good and in the uk and we love fruit cake at Christmas. I find the more Xmas fruit cakes have added nuts like walnuts and Brazil nuts, which I think are delicious.

We’re not as big on egg nog as USA but we have it

We picked up a turkey 50% off from Canadian Thanksgiving and have it in the freezer for Xmas. I’m thinking of making plum pudding this year.

I’ve never tried egg nog. My mum normally makes fudge and a Christmas cake.

My family is pretty big on Panetonne— it’s a traditional Italian bread-cake thing:

They now make chocolate chip and other varieties, but I like the old school kind with candied orange peel and raisins the best :star_struck:.

Also, when my grandpa was still around, he’d make Pan de Jamon— a traditional Venezuelan ham-bread-loaf— for the holidays. That, and hallacas— a kind of tamale which is eaten around Christmas. Both are pretty delish :+1:.

Eggnog is goated but too much can make you feel sick. I remember one year I was going out plowing for work. I was making coffee and we were out of milk so I used eggnog… Felt nauseous the entrie shift looll never again.

Oh gyatt damn I love that stuff. I haven’t had it in years but an Italian family friend I think used to gift us those!

If you think this is good try Jamaican rum cake… Absolutely goat of Christmas cakes :grinning::cake:

It so bloody good! Super moist and delicious. Has fruit pieces and enough booze in it to knock your socks off!

Haha yea, panetonne can do that to a person, it’s easy to eat a lot— it’s so fluffy and yum!

I LOVE eggnog, fruitcake and rumcake!!! But I never make them and haven’t had any of them in years. Too high calorie. And I would just go hog wild.

Good eggnog is GOATed

My mom and I were just discussing what we wanted to eat for Christmas dinner this year. I want a beef tenderloin, which we sometimes have, but it’s so expensive lol. I’m also good with a beef roast. I tend to like Christmas dinner more than Thanksgiving
