Christmas thread #3582

What’s your favorite Christmas food or drink?

I think eggnog is kind of tasty once a year.

I bought some eggnog from my local grocery store today. They’ve got a pretty good store brand of eggnog in the dairy section. I like to drink it hot instead of cold.

I’m sipping on some right now. Just found out we have some in the fridge.

I just heated some up in the microwave and am sipping it. It’s pretty good.

I have several favorites! Eggnog, queen Ann chocolate covered cherries, and chocolate orange! Those are my favorites!

I love turkey, or a nice glazed ham. :yum:

Some German Christmas treats I enjoy are lebkuchen (gingerbread) and stollen (a type of fruitcake, often with marzipan inside).

My local Trader Joe’s grocery store has both in stock for the holidays.

Orthodox Christmas is 7th january, because unlike Catholic we have Julian, not Gregorian calender.
I like to celebrate both…

My mom makes great magic cookie bars. They have a crumb base and are made of melted chocolate chips topped with coconut.

I like stuffing, but we’re not having turkey this year. I’m probably doing pot roast (roast beef) with Yorkshire pudding, mashed spuds, and an assortment of vegetables.

My moms sweets, mashed potatoes with turkey gravy and stuffing, chocolate oranges, egg nog, coffee with baileys.

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I honestly hate traditional thanksgiving food.

I eat it, and even like turkey, but despise every other “traditional thanksgiving dish”

I put on happy face to please my family and whoever made the food but inside I’m going “yuck”

Sorry my last post was off topic.

Umm, my family has a traditional German pastry recipe we make every year which is delicious. They are little wheat dough shaped crescents with frosting.

Also lebkuchen is a good traditional Christmas dish. My sister made some one year, but ever after that it’s only been store bought lebkuchen.

You really can’t beat lebkuchen. Like gingerbread but tastier.

Does eggnog have raw eggs?

No. The yolks are tempered by slowly adding hot milk to them. Eggnog is an almost custard that you can drink.

I like these rolls my aunt makes out of tortillas with meat, cream cheese, lettuce, and maybe a little tomato.

It’s always a hot summer day for us so some good seafood is the go. Some nice, big tiger prawns is a favourite. Not quiet as tasty as the bays but still good eating.
