Cellphone use in psych wards

Here they take them. I was told itwas because of cameras. No pictures of patients allowed.

If im ever sectioned again - and they wanna take my phone (out of my cold dead hands) - Im liable to plug it in a condom up my backside. Having no communication to my family on the outside would drive me crazier.

15 years or so back when i was in - i had a phone. But i think cameras were rare on phones back then.

I think its only the decision of the treatment team. As some patients are allowed and some not. Its good for you sometimes.

As if those places were not boring enough. I think we are normally allowed them here in the UK, although it was before smart phones when I was in there, I can remember being allowed to have a laptop.

yeah. We had a computer in the community room at one facility. I was able to use the ward cell phone to call my family and Phil, it was from the nurses office.

On the ward I called out to a helpline on my mobile at night as the nightshift insisted to their nightssleep. I couldn’t talk to anybody else at 2 am.

In the ER they took my bag and phone. Couldn’t even take my meds I had on me. Had to take their different meds. Also I had my clothes and shoes taken off me too

She told me in intake after taking my shoes so I didn’t bolt out of ER,

why are you thinking that way? What seems to be the problem?

I told her, ā€œI’m schizophrenic! Are you trying to change me?ā€

Yeah being changed just makes us worse and out of place. I’d rather live the way God made me and not an image society wants to make us. Ridiculous there’s no cure, ya. But maybe sz isn’t meant to have a cure. God put us here for a reason

Yah that was also why I wasn’t allowed to have mine either. It kinda sucks though because when I was in the hospital for asthma I could use the phone all I wanted, had my own room and tv. It really makes me feel like a 2nd class citizen.
