Cariprazine (Vraylar) Beneficial in Patients with Negative Symptoms of Schizophrenia

Vraylar has a super long half-life, but that means it takes like 3 hours (long for an AP) to reach serum concentration. I feel like, during those three hours I will be having a bunch of horrible positive symptoms. But hey, you can’t knock it till you’ve tried it. I am on 3mg Rexulti and that has a long half-life as well. And I haven’t had issues with it recently.

Some people get better when they get older. I think many people don’t as well like @martinhersey1 and @Jayster. I have seen case studies of people in their 70s having florid positive symptoms. Many people even get worse. So it is not far-fetched that medication could be a “for life” thing for you.

Maybe throw a little dose of a sedating AP in the mix. I take 2.5mg Zyprexa and it works against restlessness. I hardly could stand 80mg and feeling restless, I’m on 160mg now, still no restlessness.

Yes, I’m doing very well. But I take a fair amount of medication.

Everyone really tsp different to meds. Vraylar is great for me. I take 12 mgs. 6 mgs was way too stimulating for me. 7.5 is great. It improves my mood and I have a ton more energy. 12 mgs is a lot less stimulating.
Latuda was terrible for me. I was only on it for a short time. My mom said i got crazier on it.
I couldn’t tolerate ability at 5 mgs. It gave me bad akathesia.

Makes me wonder why some times medicine works for some people and some just don’t…perhaps different neurotransmitters are affected? Or people can just be more sensitive to the chemicals in the medicine.
Vraylar works fine for me, though it can make me tired 4 to 6 hours after ingestion, but by the next day I feel pretty good.
