Kindly provide feedback on newly approved antipsychotic Cariprazine?

Cariprazine was approved by US FDA in Sep’15. Hence, it must be the newest antipsychotic. I found on internet sources Cariprazine improves negative symptoms of schizophrenia. Kindly/Please provide review for this aspect.

oh i hope so : )

Never heard of it, curious to see reports also.

Also waiting. Although I saaw in another forum it worked in a person

Cariprazine only works on emotional flatness which I don’t really have on Latuda. I mostly have lack of motivation.

has it marketed already …
will be available on pharmacies…???

How do you know that cactus?

That’s the only category their study did better on. Emotional flatness

And what about the rest of the negative symptoms?

They didn’t improve in their study

cactus, i believe Vraylar is been marketed to treat negative symptoms more then abilify
so i don’t think what you say is right…

It supposedly only treats emotional flatness but ive never tried it

My 26yo son , schizoaffective, bipolar type, is doing great on 234mg Invega Sustenna. Sleep not great quality but after they added Lithium, he is almost the way he was before he got sick 6yrs ago. I hope you each find something that works for you. I also pray my son stays on both his meds, otherwise he is psychotic, paranoid, delusion and volatile, easily enraged. The invega allows his return to college to finish his senior year. He still denies his diagnosis, sadly. His insurance will not cover the Invega but he’s been using samples til now. How do you pay for yours?

Here is an interesting article on Cariprazine and Negative symptoms:

“Here, cariprazine was shown to improve symptoms more effectively than placebo and also numerically better than aripiprazole,”

Very interesting indeed.

If you are interested in hearing some feedback, I’ve made the decision to switch to this medication starting tomorrow.

Bummer… Vraylar isn’t available in Canada yet :frowning:
Does anyone know when it will be released?

cariprazine unfortunately also works on dopamine receptors mainly the 50 year old theory. we should have hope from other kind of drugs like working on glutamate system, PDE 10 etc. but these drugs have not been introduced till date  . but hope so they will be introduced around 2020 :relaxed:

I’m going to switch from Clozapine to Cariprazine the next time I see my doctor, I’ll be sure to post the results here.
