Let me rewrite this post I just deleted. I went to a careers event and they gave us a lot of goodies to take home. But I was really taken back by what they were suggesting us to do. Using AI for generating CVs and cover letters. What do you think? I really do not like AI.

I think that AI is not going anywhere. Probably better to adapt than pretend it doesnt exist.

A CV is a resume. I don’t agree with it . It takes away the personal touch using AI.

I think it’s OK to use for CVs and Cover letters, but I think for some things it feels nice to be none AI too sometimes such as poetry.

It’s also not fair that if I spend hours upon hours to work on my cv, but someone who put three words in ai to generate their cv gets the job… I don’t like these shortcuts.

I write things but ask AI to check for grammar and spelling.

it has its use, I’m not saying its totally useless, but I’ve seen posts of school kids and adults using ai for their essays.
My spouse used AI to do his cover letter.
Also hired a resume writer.
He was in a rut mentally and emotionally couldn’t motivate himself
So we put it on a credit card the cost.
I miss him being home with me during the days now.
But if he didn’t use assistance. He would still be out of work.

My wife teaches high school. She has kids incorporate AI into their learning. She lets them know when they can and can’t use it for assignments, and many assignments are built where they have to critically examine AI results. My wife is expert on AI and knows what prompts to give kids that will generate errors in the results they get.

I’m not sure I want to utilise AI to copy paste, but I guess I can use it for spell check and grammar check… and get some ideas from it. It was still informative what I got out of today’s event.

I’m clearly living in a bubble.
He used it to help word why he was not working for so many years without disclosing health issues. He asked ai how to approach and handle that in interviews and cover letter.
Also the resume writer helped him with the Timelapse in work of 5 years.
In the end, it was not so much an issue to have time lapse but the tools and the service helped push him and made him less insecure and his self esteem about the time lapse.
In the end the tool gave him confidence to put himself out there and apply.

I got AI to write a job description for me
You have to be clever how you interact with it.
Tell it exactly what you want in detail, and then proof read it and tidy up the edges.
