Can't have bread & popcorn anymore

I’m trying to make do without the diabetes med. The bread and popcorn elevated my blood sugar too much. Today I ate a veggie burger without the bread, and it was fine. I got some whole wheat bread that’s 45 calories a slice. I’m going to try it. The 60 calorie bread caused the spike.

I’m also going to try an apple. They are supposed to have a load Glycemic Load.

That’s a dumb idea and could kill you. I take Metformin myself. Get back on your diabetes meds !

I eat bread on my diet.
The whole key is to eat bread that contains no more than 15 or 16 grams of carbohydrates per slice.

I consume Ezekiel bread.

It has 15 grams of carbohydrates per slice and is flourless.

It doesn’t spike your blood sugar too high.

I’m diabetic too @anon54988740

Get back on your diabetes meds.

I’m on 2000mg of Metformin.
It’s saving my life.

The new bread is 19g per two slides or 9.5g per slice.

My nutritionist who also is a doctor suggests buying bread that is no more than 16 grams of carbs per slice.

19 is too much.

I’m close to not needing the med anymore. My fasting blood sugar was 104 this morning, near normal. I’ve been shooting for 110 or less two hours after eating. The bread and popcorn were at 120 to 125.

I’ve been taking 5mg Glipizide XL. The diarrhea Metformin caused never went away, so I asked for another med. I was taking 500mg Metformin.

9 grams per slice?
I’m sorry I misread it.

Yeah that’s very good!

I had an aunt, who also was diabetic. My brother told me that she died. And how she died. She stopped taking her diabetes medication, and two years later she died because of an heart attack.

My brother said that she wanted to die, so she stopped taking her medication.

That’s why I stopped metformin too.
I’d like to be able to leave the house without worrying I’ll soil myself.

Were you on a high dose of Metformin?else you shouldn’t soil yourself

2000mg a day.
It lessened after a while, but I know if I go back on it, I’ll have a month of <5 minutes response time for bathroom breaks

I took glipizide and Metformin. After losing a lot of weight, I’m no longer on glipizide and only on half the Metformin. Are you losing weight? Regardless, I’d stick to your meds for now, and make an appointment with your primary doctor to see if you can get off it safely

I quit taking Metformin last year because I keep my blood sugar low.

Thanks @LilyoftheValley @anon21849028. My blood sugar has been running on the low side. My goals are to have normal range blood sugar.
