Can't ejaculate on sertraline (ssri)

Was at it for more than half an hour and I couldn’t ejaculate. I’ve only been on sertraline for 2 days. I quit. Guess I’ll just take lorazepam as prn for my derealization a couple of times a week.

Most these medications have some sort of sexual side effect,

We put up with it for our sanity.

From what I’ve read in the past few posts you’ve made,

You just want to take benzos anyway.

Yeah benzos worked for me. As long as I don’t take too many in a week I won’t develop an addiction and maybe no tolerance either.

Don’t let the benzos get out of hand, withdrawal is horrible… you can have seizures

You’ve only been on it for 2 days, it takes longer then that for that side effect to go away or lesson. Wait till 10-14 days after starting and you should be fine.

That same ■■■■ happened to me with sertaline. I discontinued taking them after two days.

Maybe give Sertraline more than 2 days? Who knows, it just might get better with time.
Or try another antidepressant? Benzodiazepines aren’t a long term solution, you should focus on finding something you can take for longer that’s safer & more stable.
Also, be careful with Lorazepam. It can be super addictive, so the way you describe you’ll be taking it might still be enough for tolerance & addiction to develope.

I’m on risperidone and it has a lot of sexual side effects but it’s gotten a bit better for me currently.

I would give it some time @StonePaperScissors, things could improve over time.

You’re not alone. Many men who take the stuff lose the ability to climax. Ask your physician whether you can go off for a day during which you plan intercourse, or whether you can try yohimbine.

I don’t think it will get better. I’m only on 50mg and experiencing issues. Imagine when I’m on 200mg. There’ll be no chance of normal ejaculation and orgasm. I really wish I could stay on sertraline…

@StonePaperScissors but are you able to feel any pleasure or are you having some sexual anhedonia?

Masturbating doesn’t feel pleasurable at all.

I got the same on an ssri but I totally got better over time. Took like 6-8 weeks

I had that happen with every ssri I was ever on and also flomax for prostate issues. Prostate surgery then made it permanent. :frowning:
