Can you earn a living doing YouTube videos?

I think it’s unlikely, that people do it for fun. I heard that making a living as a musician is almost impossible.

Only really big youtbers make money. Smaller ones can get by on patreon but it takes a long time to get going.

It depends on what kind of musician. If you want to just do gigs and perform originals yes it is nearly impossible. It is very hard to make it work out financially.

If you want to be a session player, play in a covers/function band, be a music teacher, become a composer for adverts/film, be a producer of other musicians etc - it is far from impossible.

Try and find an angle where you are selling a service in music. That’s what I want to do. It is difficult with the illness on top. Too many days/weeks/moths I don’t work on music at all. But it is far more likely to happen.

It’s how the Biebs started out.

99.9% who want to, won’t. Some do very, very well. You need pretty unique content to pull it off.

Its just like anything else, you have to amass a decent size following.

Its not impossible. They make a lot

Unfortunately like many entertainment careers the pay is not linear… Tends to be exponential as you gain popularity.

Beginners make zero and pros make millions

If you have a year to invest where you’d make nothing id say go for it

I could see you doing well with that, especially with the drone gear.

I don’t want my hobby to become work. It would steal the joy.

Fair enough, just saying if you want to you have my permission :face_with_monocle:

I ocassionaly post some stuff. I think one vid has a few thousand views lol.
Theres litterally milions of hours of content being shoved onto youtube trying to catch the attention of viewers everyday and most of it gets lost into the background.
