Previously my GP had thought it was depression

There is a link between depression and pain. But tbh it is very poorly understood. When did your pain start?

This week @Jimbob and my last day of work was Friday but I called it quits today

I’m talking about when it happened before. At that time my GP seemed to think it was related to depression. Right now I’m not depressed

Stress Could well be the cause. Stress can knot the muscles up which could cause pain. Could you get a massage? Are you skilled in relaxation techniques - there are guides on YouTube.

Sorry you’re in pain, @anon80629714. Like @Jimbob said, stress can be a cause of it. Hope you find a new job soon. I know the tedium of finding a job can be very stressful.

Yeah definitely, I have chronic back, chest and stomach pain, sometimes it feels like I am being repeatedly stabbed. I was actually rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack, the pain was so intense, there have been times when I am actually crying and screaming with the pain. I have had MRI. ECG and all sorts of tests and no cause found, so the assumption is that it is stress/psychosomatic. I was lucky enough to be offered acupuncture on the NHS, it really worked wonders, the effects lasted for months, it’s starting to get bad again but they said I can go for a course of treatment twice a year so I’m very luck in that being available to me.

Stress can cause all sorts of physical problems. I used to constantly get colds due to stress. I also threw up for over a year, all because of stress.

That’s funny, @Nomad! That was the first thing I thought of when I read that, too haha.

@anon80629714, are you moving heavy things since you quit work, like moving your stuff back home?
Even a heavy purse or backpack can bring on neck and back pain, doesn’t have to be more than 5lbs to throw off your back/neck.

For me stress can result in the aching limbs and fevered feeling you can get with a bout of the flu.

I haven’t experienced a lot of it today but just looking at this topic brought my focus to it and brought it back. Weird

Maybe a heat ointment would help
